Over the weekend we finished the painting the trim in the kitchen. ... Yes, more painting. It's a dark raspberry chocolate color, so it took three coats.
We also ordered the back doors for the house.
The best news, however, is that the refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and stove are all in. All are functional except for the stove.
The electrician hadn't connected the line for the stove, so we have to wait for that before we can use it.
It turns out that the leak under the kitchen cabinet was from the drain line. It apparently backed up, so the plumbers snaked it out and we're good to go. They also installed the faucet, air gap for the dishwasher and the garbage disposal. I now have running water in my kitchen. Yay!
I spent part of the day Tuesday cleaning out the old refrigerator in the garage and stocking the new one in the house. Last night, we loaded up the dishwasher with a couple boxes full of dishes, washed the construction dust off of them and put a few things in the cabinets.
Life is starting to get back to normal, only better.
In one of my forays into the garage to collect condiments, I discovered that an entire gallon of paint was knocked over and spilled all over the garage.
Luckily most of what was hit by the splatter was other paint cans. We did, however, lose the area rug that goes beneath my dining room table. We almost lost a box of Gabe's baby stuff (you know, the stuff you really want to keep like handmade blankets and the baby swing), but thanks to the sturdy construction of a Dell computer box, it did leak through.
One of the doors we ordered this weekend is in, so it should be installed sometime this week as well. The other, won't be in until March, so not sure what is going to happen there.
I have a meeting set up with the stained glass artist for 11 a.m. tomorrow to go over the designs. That should be a lot of fun.
That's about it right now. I'll get back to unpacking and washing dishes when I get home tonight.
