Anticipating a sold out Sportsplex Saturday night, Ventura College and Bakersfield presold upwards of 1,000 tickets this week for the SCFA Beach Bowl sponsored by Joe Kapp Real Estate.

The two schools finished 1-2 in home attendance last year. Bakersfield will be bringing a rooter bus and its band. Taking that into account, Ventura is encouraging fans to arrive early. It will open the gates at 4 p.m., an hour earlier than usual and about an hour after the expected end of the women's soccer playoff game against Citrus.

"Super Saturday," Ventura women's soccer coach Steve Hoffman said. "Football in the afternoon. Football in the evening, What more do you want?"
