Oxnard College will host a friendly doubleheader Saturday afternoon featuring Major League Soccer teams.

The Chicago Fire, who are preparing for the upcoming season with a local training camp, will face Chivas USA at noon and the Ventura County Fusion at 2 p.m. at the school's track stadium.

The Fusion are unbeaten against MLS opposition this preseason, having beaten Chivas USA 1-0 and drawn 0-0 with the Colorado Rapids.

Admission is free.

The Fire, Houston Dynamo and San Jose Earthquakes will all be training locally next week. The Fusion defeated the Fire's Under-23 team to win the 2009 Premier Development League championship.

The Fusion midfield will be boosted by the return of captain Andy Rose, the UCLA central midfielder who had four goals and three assists in six matches before leaving to train with the Chicago Fire and Hammarby of Sweden. He also missed last summer's playoff loss to Kitsap on penalty kicks.

"He'd be a nice addition," said Mikkelsen.

Rose sits in nicely to the position vacated by former Danish youth international Michael Jensen, who suffered an apparent season-ending ankle injury over the weekend.

"He's been a consistent fixture on the team," said Mikklesen of the former Aalborg defender. "He certainly will be missed."

Oaks Christian product J.J. Koval, who will be a sophomore at Stanford this fall, has joined the Fusion. The Camarillo native made one appearance for the Chicago Fire Under-23s earlier this season.

Hill joins club

Fusion goalkeeper coach Bryan Hill was sent off in the second half Tuesday night for dissent. The joke on the sideline after the game was that the red card solidified Hill's position as a "true" member of the coaching staff, considering the staff's history.

Fusion fans will remember coach Graham Smith being sent off late in the 2009 PDL title game win over the Chicago Fire U-23s.
