As if the weekend couldn't get any worse for the Oxnard College baseball team, No. 16 Cuesta, trailing No. 2 San Diego City 10-5 in the eighth inning, came back to beat No. 2 San Diego City 12-11 and 20-7.

If the Condors had been able to beat Palomar this weekend, they would have hosted one of the two four-team Super Regionals for a state Final Four berth next weekend.

Instead the No. 2, 3 and 4 seeds were all eliminated

WSC North partners No. 16 Cuesta and No. 13 Hancock both advanced, eliminating No. 2 San Diego City and No. 4 Chaffey.

McLucas lifts Oxnard men past San Diego City

Ryan McLucas had five of his team-high 26 points in the final 73 seconds of overtime to lift the Oxnard College men's basketball team, 86-82, over San Diego City Tuesday night at Citrus College in Glendora.

Oxnard trailed 82-79 with 1:13 to play when the sophomore from Rio Mesa High buried a pair of jumpers, including a 3-pointer. McLucas also had eight rebounds and eight assists.

James Ennis had 24 points and eight rebounds. Criag Lee added 16 points. Oxnard will face No. 3 Citrus Wednesday at 7 p.m..

Dunell Webb Jr. had 32 points and Travis Wilson added 19 points for San Diego City (3-10).

AVC goes out on a pair of buzzer beaters

No embarrassment for the Moorpark College men's basketball team for bowed out of the postseason with a 67-47 regional quarterfinal loss at No. 13 Antelope Valley Wednesday.

The Mauraders went to powerhouse San Diego City and nearly won Saturday, falling 80-78 in overtime to a pair of buzzer beaters.

To advance, San Diego needed Nehemiah Simpkins' game-tying 3-pointer off a loose ball with 2.9 seconds left in regulation and Marquintice Davis game-winning left-hander with 0.8 seconds left in overtime.

Forward Malcolm Thomas, who Dave Roghan of JCHoops.com predicts will play in the NBA, had 30 points and 14 rebounds for San Diego City.
