A few weeks ago, the story broke that Congresswoman Jane Harman, (D-Los Angeles) was caught on wiretaps discussing a possible pay for play scheme (details of the scam can be read here). The wiretaps were fromseveral years back. It involved Israeli lobbyists who were seeking sway in Congress. The lobbyist were being prosecuted by the federal government, but the case was later dropped when the court deemed the case would reveal too many state secrets.

The important part being thats soon as the story broke, it was hushed up by the same media that produced it. Now that is real control of the media.

On the front page of Tuesday's New York Times was an article titled "Lawmaker Is Said To Have Agreed To Aid Lobbyist." It hit pretty close to home considering it was about Congressmember Jane Harman (D-Los Angeles) and how she was caught on wiretaps by the NSA. In the conversation Harman allegedly told lobbyist that she would help them if they would help her. Apparently Harman wanted to be chair of the House Intelligence Committee and the lobbyist were either going to dontate money or not to Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) depending if Harman got the seat. The Congresswoman denied the report by days end.

And I thought the Democrats were the ethical ones. What the heck?

Well as most of you heard, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was doing his fair share of corruption. He was caught on wiretaps trying to make money out of appointing Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat. Well what the lessons we learned:

1. If you are already under investigation, as Blagojevich was, do not commit more corruption over the telephone. Big brother is listening. Do it in person, less chance of getting caught.
2. It is politics as usual in Illinois.

Also the bailout for the Big 3 worth $15 Billion is on the verge of passing. Congress is trying to create a car czar who will act as oversight and make sure the money is used properly.

Anyone remember if there was any oversight for the $700B for Freddie and Fannie?
