Four area teams survived the first round of the CIF Southern California Regional playoffs and will play in the second round on Thursday night.

In Division III girls, Buena plays at top-seeded Santa Margarita at 6 p.m. and fourth-seeded Agoura hosts Bishop Amat at 7 p.m.

In Division IV boys, Oaks Christian plays at top-seeded Price at 7.

In Division V boys, Besant Hill is at Windward at 7.

Besant Hill won the first state tournament boys' basketball game in program history Tuesday night.

The CIF-Southern Section Division V-A champion defeated Mission Prep in a Southern California Divison V game at Thacher School. Last year, Besant Hill was eliminated in the first round by Mission Prep.

Besant Hill (27-2) advances to the quarterfinals Thursday.

In the Division VI-A boys' basketball game that finished before Besant Hill took the court Friday night at Colony High, Kilpatrick won the program's first section title.

Besant Hill (25-2), the 2009 Division VI-A champion, faces Sierra Canyon, which has never won a section championship, for the V-A title. Scheduled tipoff is 8:15 p.m.

The CIF-SS basketball finals schedule has been released for this weekend. The Agoura High girls and Besant Hill boys are the area teams still remaining with a shot at a title. If you want to attend, here is when they play:

- CIF-SS Division V-A Boys: Sierra Canyon vs. Besant Hill, Friday March 5 at 8:15 p.m. at Colony High School (Ontario).

- CIF-Division III-AA Girls: Agoura vs. Inglewood, Saturday March 6 at 11:15 a.m. at The Walter Pyramid (on the campus of Long Beach State).

Seeking the first section championship in any sport in school history, top-ranked Besant Hill will play Hope Centre for the Division VI-A boys' basketball title Friday8 at 6:30 p.m. at Colony High.
Making its first CIF girls' final appearance in 20 years, Santa Clara faces Bell-Jeff for the Division V-A title Saturday at 11:15 a.m. at Mater Dei.
In boys' basketball championship games Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Thousand Oaks meets Leuzinger for the II-AA title at 2:15 p.m. Ventura closes out the day's session against Tesoro in the I-A final at 8:15 p.m.

Crespi 59, Santa Clara 58: Cierre Wood's game-tying 3-point bid in the final seconds just fell off for the Saints.

Division VI-A

Besant Hill 65, Marywood-Palm Valley 26: Francois Tchoyi and Yannick Atanga both scored 18 points. Ivan Matip scored 17 points with two 3-point goals and eight assists. Gunnar Von Burg scored 12 points and had three 3-pointers. Besant Hill (20-1) will host Padrio Pio in the CIF semifinals on Friday.

Thousand Oaks and Besant Hill were seeded No. 1 in Division II-AA and VI-A, respectively, for the CIF-Southern Section boys' basketball playoffs, which begin Wednesday.

The opening round of the girls' basketball playoffs is Thursday.

Twenty-one area girls' and 20 area boys' teams made the postseason.

Channel League girls' co-champion Buena (II-AA) and Marmonte third-place finisher Agoura (III-AA) were seeded second in their divisions.

Santa Clara was seeded No. 3 in Division V-AA.
