On the flea flicker, Ian Shultis hits Curtis Dempster for a 40-yard scoring strike to tie the game, 28-28, with 10:55 to play.

Shultis handed the ball off to John Lister, who pitched the ball back to his quarterback, who found Dempster down the right hashmarks behind the Saugus secondary.

And Saugus just had a 35-yard kickoff return called back for an illegal block.

Ricky Minyard breaks loose off left tackle for a 67-yard touchdown run, with John Lister leading the blocking convoy down the left sideline, to give Thousand Oaks its first lead of the night, 21-14, on the second play of the second half.

SANTA CLARITA -- Thousand Oaks senior running back John Lister has just been officially announced to the Saugus High fans over the public address system as "the one to watch tonight."

Lister has rushed for 2,117 yards this season. He broke his own school record against last week by running for 322 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-28 first-round win over Santa Barbara.

It may be considered a passing-oriented league, yet the Marmonte League includes three of the top six Ventura County runners entering Week 3:

3. Moorpark junior Austin Edmonson has rushed for 361 yards and 5 TDs on 65 carries.
6. Newbury Park junior Cameron Roberson has rushed for 285 yards and 4 TDs on 38 carries.

Consider also that Roberson is only filling in for senior Chris Brown (23 att., 104 yards, 1 TD), who injured his back in the season opener at Camarillo.

Other notable Marmonte League runners include Royal's Matt Rulon and Westlake's Taylor Mowry.

Received an e-mail from Thousand Oaks High football coach Mike Leiben, who reports running back John Lister rushed for a school single-game record 307 yards in Friday's 28-6 win over Buena.

It was announced over the public address system after the game that Lister, who was named the Star's Male Athlete of the Week, had rushed for 297 yards.

The statistical issue was caused by a first half swing pass from quarterback Ian Shultis, which should have been scored a running play because it was a lateral.
