Pacific View League girls' basketball co-MVP Keiana Vines has transferred from Pacifica High to Santa Clara, where she joins cousin Dajyanah Vines.

Keiana Vines averaged 15.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.1 blocks for the PVL champion Pacifica Tritons last season.

The 6-foot-4 center becomes a welcome addition to an already strong Santa Clara team that won the 2009 Frontier League title and reached the Division V-A championship game. The Saints were 25-5 last season.

Ventura High (16-5, 6-0 Channel) takes a 21-game Channel League winning streak into its home game Monday at 7 p.m. against crosstown rival Buena (19-7, 6-1).

Ventura has won outright or shared (with Buena) five straight Channel League titles. 

Over the last six league seasons, Ventura has gone 42-4 in the Channel League. All four losses were to Buena.

Buena owns 30 Channel League championships.

Fillmore trio are productive

Four-year Fillmore High girls' basketball players Aimee Orozco, Rebeca Herrera and Jill Wilber have made an impact over their careers.

They have combined for 3,049 points, 537 assists, 1,330 rebounds and 567 steals.

Orozco ranks fifth on the school's career scoring list with 1,125 points, just ahead of Herrera (1,011). Both are chasing the fourth-place mark of 1,134 points by Christine Rosenblad.

Herrera also ranks second in career assists (319) and steals (266).

Wilber is the school's career record holder for 3-point field goals (133) and is seventh in points (913).

Brittany Oster's 19 points and 10 rebounds for Agoura High in a 55-25 Marmonte League girls' basketball win over Westlake marked the 13th time that she has had a double-double this season.

Agoura improved to 15-1 overall.

Starting times for Channel League boys' and girls' basketball games have been changed for the 2008-09 season.

The opening tipoffs will begin at 7 p.m., rather than previous years' 7:30 p.m. starts.
