Hillcrest (2-2, 1-2) ended the game on an incredible 22-0 run,
including a fourth-quarter shutout, which broke open a 4-point game.
Hillcrest outscored Cornerstone 19-0 in the fourth quarter.
Cornerstone Christian was led by 12 points and 11 rebounds by Nick Alpers had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Host Morro Bay did an excellent job of keeping the football out of the
hands of Oaks Christian playmakers like Nick Montana, Malcolm Jones and
Chris Owusu Friday night in the CIF-SS Northwest Division semifinals.
Morro Bay ran the ball on 62 of 64 plays from scrimmage.
Oaks Christian had possession for just 11 minutes, in which it ran 35 plays... and scored 29 points.
"It's crazy," Oaks Christian head coach Bill Redell told the Star's
David Lassen. "You feel like, 'Geez, we just didn't seem to get going.
Then you see we only had 35 plays, and we scored 29 points."
Jones returned from a shoulder injury to rush for 82 yards and three touchdowns.

program, 29-7 Friday night at Morro Bay, put it in position to win its
sixth section title.

With its 35-8 win in the CIF-SS Northern Division semifinal against
Saugus, St. Bonaventure is 41-5 in the program's postseason history.
The Seraphs are also 10-0 in semifinals and 9-1 in championship games.
The Newbury Park High football team's 7-0 shutout win over Oak Park
Friday was the Panthers first shutout of a team other than Calabasas
since they beat Simi Valley, 44-0, in Oct. 27, 2000.
