Embarking on a simulated pre-honeymoon but also a singing vacation/job, singer-songwriter Cory Branan will make his debut at Zoey's in Ventura Friday as he tries to sell a few copies of his third and latest album, "Mutt." If that show is too convenient, Branan will be at The Mint in L.A. Saturday night. Rather than wandering semi-aimlessly like usual, on this road trip Branan is bringing his significant other, his fiancee, who will add companionship and perhaps driving advice.
Branan, a master of the story song, has been favorably compared to Ryan Adams, Chris Carrabba and Chuck Ragan. Once upon a time from Mississippi -- the state that gave us Elvis and John Lee Hooker -- Branan is now holding his own with the varsity of American songwriters in Nashville.
