The latest from River City Extension is sound advice, "Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Your Anger" and it's on XOXO Records. Beginning back in New Jersey with a guy named Joseph Michelini with some song ideas in his head a few years ago, it's now an eight-piece folk rock band of immense talent that compares favorably with the Avett Brothers and it doesn't get much better than that. While there's some obviously country rock stuff here - there's a lot of pop as well and some heavenly doo-wop-style harmonies and some classic rock and even some symphonic flourishes. It's all a head-full and the annoying jerks from "Jersey Shore" would probably hate these guys which is why you'll probably love them. Also, Michelini is a gifted lyricist, from "Standing Outside A Southern Riot," a sample line: "..It's funny how people pay for answers/Are kinder in the face of cancer/And change when they feel/Nothing ever will..." Nothing close to a bad cut - you need this one even though the title is easier said than done.
