I spoke to seven of the Great Eight head coaches to compile my preview capsules.

The North's No. 2 seed is one of the tournament's favorites, Fresno City.

- Head coach: Brian Tessler (1st year)
- How it got here: Seeded No. 2 in regional, def. No. 15 Skyline 78-53, def. No. 7 Santa Rosa 64-57.
- Conference finish: Central Valley, champion (10-0)
- RPI: 3rd
- Vs. Great Eight: 4-2
- Team offense: 86.6 points per game (1st)
- Team defense: 61.6 ppg (39th)
- Leading scorers: PF Lena Gipson 17.5 ppg, PG Vanessa House 15.8 ppg.
- Leading rebounders: Gipson 10.9 rpg, F Courtney Crosson 7.9 rpg.
- Great Eight history: Second appearance.
- Note: Gipson and House are second in the state in field goal percentage (65.5) and assists per game (7.1), respectively.
- Strengths: Talent. Offensive system. Inside game. Decision-making on perimeter.
- Weaknesses: Defense. Road.
- Tessler says: “The winner of our game (with Ventura)... won't be afriad of Mount SAC."
- Scouts say: “They’re the best offensive team in the group. They overwhelm you with intelligence, floor spacing and shot selection… by moving chess pieces to keep you at a disadvantage.�
- Outlook: The tournament’s second favorite is full of confidence, but the Rams probably face the two teams that beat them this season in the first two rounds.
