Savannah Thomas had 12 kills and Rachel Olinyk added nine kills and three blocks as the Moorpark College women's volleyball team started WSC North play strong Tuesday night with a sweep of visiting Hancock, 25-18, 25-13, 25-14.

Moorpark (11-4, 1-0 WSC North) is ranked No. 7 in the state by the coaches association.

Ventura (5-8) opened with a four-game loss in San Luis Obispo, falling 19-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-18 at Cuesta despite 14 kills from Danielle Vaughn and 22 assists from Justine O'Connor.
