The Moorpark College football team (3-1), which has suffered a head-scratching eight shoulder injuries this season, is gladly enjoying its one bye of the season today.

I just spoke to head coach Jim Bittner, who is on his way to Santa Maria to watch 4-0 Canyons, ranked No. 2 in the nation by JC Gridwire, open Northern Conference play at Hancock.

Moorpark will travel to Santa Clarita next week to face Canyons, which leads the state in scoring (52.5 ppg), total offense (530.5 ypg) and rushing offense (304.2 ypg). The Cougars feature the regions top running back, Fred Winborn (155.0 ypg), and top receiver, Hayo Carpenter (30 rec., 537 yards, 7 TDs).
