County teams thriving

The three Ventura County community college basketball teams are thriving, coming off a weekend in which the three programs went a combined 8-0.

The No. 15-ranked Ventura College men's basketball team (12-3) won three more games, including wins over the No. 11- and No. 14-ranked teams in the state, to win the San Jose City Classic and extend its winning streak to 11 games.

The No. 16-ranked Moorpark College men's basketball team (10-2) won two more games, sweeping its opposition in the Intensity Classic at Los Angeles Southwest, to extend its winning streak to four games.

The Oxnard College men's basketball team (6-6), which opened the season with four straight losses, swept its three games to win the Santa Barbara City Classic and get back to the .500 mark.

The county's three teams are a combined 28-11, a .718 winning percentage.
