-- But Dee Pinkard's buzzer-beating layup pushed VC to its 10th win of the season.
-- Down 4 points with 20 seconds to play, DVC again found a way to tie the game 69-69.
-- Mike Diacos finds Randy Hunter inside for a 68-65 VC lead with 41 seconds to play in OT.
-- Eric Gray opened the overtime session with a 3-pointer and a steal to push VC ahead 66-61. DVC whittled it down to 66-63 with 1:30 to play in the extra period.
Updates from intrepid cub reporter Pepe Araujo in the second half included:
-- DVC ended regulation on a 9-0 run to tie the game 61-61 and force overtime.
-- Benson has fouled out and DVC has trimmed VC's lead to 61-58 with 1:30 left. DVC on a 6-0 run over the past 90 seconds.
-- With three minutes left and VC leading 61-52, Abidoye and Benson have four fouls.
-- Prince Abidoye strokes a huge 3-pointer to restore the VC lead to 59-51 with four minutes to play.
--Faiivae two-hand dunk from Danny Benson gives VC a 54-46 lead with five minutes to play.
-- Randy Hunter's bucket is followed by Jeremiah Slowik's steal and two free throws to give VC its largest lead, 48-34 with 10 minutes to play.
-- A layup and one by Dee Pinkard gives Ventura a 36-28 lead with 16 minutes to play.
-- A 3-pointer by Dee Pinkard and a layup by Will Faiivae to start the second half give Ventura a 33-24 lead with 18 minutes to play.

-- Alameda defeated Monterey Peninsula in overtime in the first game. VC will play Alameda if it holds on, Monterey Peninsula if it doesn't.
-- "Second team came out with intensity on defense. Jordan Harris sparked it with a steal and a fast break, two-hand dunk at the nine-minute mark."
-- "Prince (Abidoye) off the bench with a quick seven points" at the five-minute mark.
-- "Prince and Jordan great off the bench. Psycho defense is causing lots of turnovers."
-- "Coach 'Jon' Wyers said it because before the game, 'We're the only team from the South here. Let's represent well.' "
-- Prince Abidoye had a team-high seven points at the half, followed by five points from Eric Gray.
