Down 15 points with just under five minutes to play in the first half and down seven points with little more than four minutes left in the game, the Ventura College men's basketball team still managed to pull off a 70-66 win at Cuesta Saturday night to pull even in the WSC North.

Asked what he was thinking when the Pirates were struggling, coach Ned Mircetic responded:

"I was thinking, 'If we play as a team, if we play hard, if we play with a sense of purpose, then everything's fine.' And all (the leaks) began to seal themselves.

"They really began playing as a team, not a group of players."
