VC softball on the brink

The Ventura College softball team (23-18, 15-7), sitting in second place in the Western State Conference's Gold Division, must sweep fifth-place Santa Barbara City today to clinch second place and a Southern California regional playoff berth.

Third-place Cuesta (23-20, 15-8) sits a half-game back, plays last-place Los Angeles Pierce and has won the season series with the Pirates.
