"Coach Greg Winslow Demands Public Hearing before the Governing Board of Ventura Community College District"
"On April 10, 2009, Mr. Winslow received written notice from Chancellor James Meznek, that a recommendation was going to be made to the Governing Board to suspend Mr. Winslow without pay on April 14, 2009.
Mr. Winslow immediately notified the District that he would exercise his right to make this hearing public. By law those interested in the community have the right to place their names on the agenda and make a statement to the Board about the agenda items on the docket at a public hearing.
Prior to the Public Hearing former head basketball coaches Greg Winslow, Jeff Theiler, and several former basketball players who were suspended by the Ventura County Community College District will hold a press conference on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at the Ventura County Community College District headquarters located at 255 West Stanley Avenue in Ventura to discuss the District's charges and its investigation into the basketball program.
Ron Bamieh stated, "Mr. Winslow has been victimized by an investigation that refused to look at the facts of what was happening within the Community College District. The fact that most out of state students, whether athletes or not, register as in state students, the fact that as late as last month you could register as an in state student without providing any documentation as to residence, the fact that there are numerous illegal aliens who register within the District who register as in state students, and the fact that this issue is known to the Chancellor and Presidents of the District's schools. The fact is the District benefits financially from this abuse and has promoted this behavior by intentionally failing to correct it. The fact is that Mr. Meznek and President of Ventura College are attempting through the persecution of Mr. Winslow to distract the public from their malfeasances and poor administration. There is a cover up within the Ventura County Community College District, and like all cover ups it is advisable to follow the money."
