With Heisman Trophy candidate Jahvid Best at tailback, Jeff Tedford is looking forward to tackling a difficult schedule this year at Cal.
"We play a very tough schedule. It's a challenging season for us."
(on busing to Pasadena to play UCLA this season because of the state budget woes)
"I don't think that's going to hinder us in any way. If we took a commercial flight down there, we're maybe going to be one more hour. I think we'll be able to utilize that as a strength for us."
(on the rushing at Cal)
"We've been very fortunate to have very good tailbacks. We've had a lot of talent there.
"Our goal has always been to stay balanced and appreciate the value of a good running game. But it has to do with the players. We've been fortunate.
(on RB Jahvid Best)
"He is definitely worth the price of admission.
(on QB Kevin Riley and the passing game)
"If we're going to achieve our goals, we're going to have to be more consistent in the passing game. Consistency at the quarterback position... is really what we're looking for.
(on the fans desire for a Rose Bowl)
"Our fans would prefer to go to the Rose Bowl, then the national championship. That's the mindset... Obviously there's a lot of work to be done before we can even talk about that."
