I just asked Burnley managing director Brendan Flood about the Clarets decision to prepare for its most important season in decades in Ventura County.

Flood was in Ventura earlier this year when the Fusion hosted Real Salt Lake and the Seattle Sounders of Major League Soccer and four-time Swedish champion GAIS of Gothenburg.

"It was the predictability of the weather and the relationship with the people who will be looking after you.

"It was also an incentive for the players after this past year. It's a great opportunity for the players to come and experience California."
