VC water polo teams win WSC openers

The Ventura College water polo teams opened Western State Conference play Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Los Angeles Valley.

Spencer McGrath scored five goals, Jonnie Pare had three goals and two assists and Hayden Adler and Tyler McClure each added two goals as the VC men's water polo team won, 15-10.

Goalie Cody Womack had six blocks for Ventura (6-2, 1-0). L.A. Valley is 4-6 and 0-1.

Carly Clark scored five goals and Kelsey Michon, Rachel Davis, Mary Dugan, Kayleigh Jeffries, Emily Allen and Courtney Thomas also scored as the VC women won, 11-4.

Goalie Marissa Herold had nine saves for Ventura (3-2, 1-0).
