Ventura College sophomore attacker Jazmarae Strozier will start the state semifinal against No. 5-N Consumnes River this morning at 10 a.m., according to VC coach Steve Hoffman.

"We don't know how long she'll go, but she's going to play," said Hoffman.

Strozier, the state's co-leader in goals alongside Consumnes River's Dani Arellano with 30, injured a knee scoring her third goal of the postseason in the regional semifinal win over Santa Monica.

Hoffman also said that freshman defender Lauren Nelson had drawn the assignment of marking Arellano, who was featured in this morning's Sacramento Bee as the ultimate soccer mom.
