On the surface, Wednesday's WSC North men's basketball matchup between Ventura College and Los Angeles Pierce may just look like a game between two teams with a combined 12-21 overall record.
But both teams have shown flashes in winning a pair of conference games through the first two weeks of WSC North play and Wednesday's winner may just yet have a say in this race.
Ventura coach Will Cowen on Pierce:
"Pierce is a very streaky team and they have good athleticism. That combination always gets your attention.
"Much like us, they haven't put enough complete games together this year and that's why their record is what it is. That being said, they can hurt you from any place on the floor.
"They get to the basket well. They have several guys that can shoot the 3. They have a big post."
VC must be an overwhelming favorite. I doubt that Pierce has beat VC @ VC in the last dozen years. Pierce is not very good and their coach has very little experience compared to Cowen. VC will win this in easy fashion.
