The Ventura College women's basketball alumnaes were out in force on Semifinal Saturday.

Several members of the 10-year anniversary 38-0 state champions of 1999-2000 attended the semifinal win over San Francisco at Cal Lutheran, including Katie Stanulis, Julie Essary and Monica Hang.

"It was nice," said Hang. "I'm just hoping for one more (win)."

Two more members of that 2000 group attended Wednesday's banquet, when co-captain Valerie Wiggins inducted guard Renae Hofmann into the state coaches' Hall of Fame.

Stefanie Kawasaki and Kristin De Simone, who led a pair of state finalists in 1998 and 1999, were spotted behind the Ventura bench.

Sarah (Kolbeck) Angel, who was on the 2001 and 2002 state championship teams alongside Hang and Monique Taylor, who attended Thursday's quarterfinal win over Laney College.

For the first time in eight years, 11 more Pirates will join those Ventura products who have played in state championships Sunday afternoon.

The star of the 2007-08 team, Indira Kaljo, back on campus in New Orleans after helping Tulane University to the NCAA tournament with a Conference USA title, also watched the semifinal via the Internet.
