Brennan, Padilla named All-Americans

Ventura College sophomores Chanelle Brennan and Amanda Padilla were named WBCA honorable mention All-Americans today.

Both were All-Western State Conference and All-State first team selections.

Brennan, who averaged 19.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, had 33 points and five rebounds in Sunday's state championship win over Fullerton to earn tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

The Ventura High product was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Western State Conference's North Division.

Padilla, who averaged 13.0 points and 5.6 assists per game, had 24 points and seven assists in Thursday's state quarterfinal win over Laney.

The Buena High product finished in the Top 10 in the state in three offensive categories, assists per game, 3-point shooting (42.7 percent), and free throw shooting (81.6 percent).
