One year after being upset in the playoffs by Orange Coast, the Moorpark College men's volleyball team won the state championship in the sweetest of sweeps, 30-24, 30-24, 30-25, over the Pirates before a raucous crowd of 850 on Saturday night at Orange Coast's Peterson Gymnasium.

Here's my game story from Sunday's Star.

Middle blocker Kyle Auge had 13 kills and four blocks and right-side Josh Howley had 12 kills to each earn all-tournament honors and Quinn locked up the Most Valuable Player award with 41 assists.

Outside hitters Tyler Peterson and Trevor Willenberg had 12 and 10 kills, respectively, and liberos Erik Varney and Brendan Keane combined for 24 digs as Moorpark (16-4) improved to 2-0 in state finals in 11 years of existence.
