The Moorpark College baseball team snapped its eight-game losing streak with an 8-3 win over visiting Cuesta March 25.

The Raiders (6-13-1, 1-7) finally showed some fight two days after being pummeled 16-1 in San Luis Obispo.

"That's exactly what a couple of the players said," said Moorpark coach Mario Porto. "The frustrating thing is that's how we should have been playing all along."

Freshman pitcher Landon Hunt pitched a complete game and freshman outfielder Robert Toczynski cleared the loaded bases with a three-RBI double to give Moorpark a 5-1 lead through four innings.

"Landon Hunt pitched very well," said Porto. "He's a bulldog kid and he loves to be out there.

"When your offense and defense sees a guy like that doing what he's doing, they take it up a notch."

After Cuesta pulled within 5-3, Moorpark tacked on three runs in the eighth to allow Hunt to finish it out easily.

"Those were things we hadn't been doing, coming up with those big hits," said Porto
