There are plenty of surprises at the back in manager Fabio Capello's 30-man provisional World Cup squad, announced Tuesday.
With all the fitness issues England have had in defense lately, Capello has brought in Jamie Carragher, who retired from international football after Germany '06, Ledley King, who struggles to maintain fitness with a longtime knee injury and Michael Dawson, who has never been capped for his country.
Plenty of questions in attack as well. Darren Bent or Jermain Defoe? Peter Crouch or Emile Heskey? And will Wayne Rooney be fit for the tournament?
