James Ennis, Ventura College's 6-foot-7 forward, verbally committed to Long Beach State head coach Dan Monson Monday after an on-campus visit.

The Ventura High product is expected to sign a letter of intent today to join the 49ers next season, VC coach Will Cowen said Tuesday.

"I think it's a good place for him," said Cowen.

Ennis is averaging 22.3 points and 8.3 rebounds through three games for the 2-1 Pirates after transferring from Oxnard College, where he averaged 19.0 points and 7.7 rebounds as a freshman. As a high jumper, he also won the Western State Conference and Southern California regional titles.
