VC up, MC down in football poll

The Ventura College football team (4-3) leapt eight spots to No. 11 in this week's Southern California coaches poll after shutting out Bakersfield for the first time in 71 years Saturday.

The Pirates also returned to the state poll at No. 22, between Monterey Peninsula.

Moorpark (4-3) slipped seven spots to No. 16 following its fourth-quarter breakdown at Long Beach.

The 2011 California Community College Football Poll is a service of the California Community College Athletic Association and the California Community Colleges Football Coaches Association. The poll is recognized as the official regional state ranking and will be used for selection of post-season and bowl game participants.
