The Ventura College women's basketball team opened 2012 just as it closed the 2011 calendar year, as the unanimous No. 1-ranked team in both Southern California and the state.
The Pirates (17-1) received all 15 first-place votes in both polls.
Both the state Top 5 of Ventura, Mt. SAC, Foothill, San Bernardino Valley and City College of San Francisco and the SoCal Top 5 of Ventura, Mt. SAC, San Bernardino Valley, Saddleback and East L.A. remain unchanged from the previous polls.
