A big part of the resurgence of the Ventura College women's soccer team has been the goalscoring of striker Daisy Cardona.

The Buena High product committed verbally to the University of Oklahoma Monday

"This kid scores goals," Ventura coach Steve Hoffman said of Cardona. "Goalscorers are born. You can't create them."

An honorable mention All-American as a freshman, Cardona has 18 goals and 15 assists as a sophomore, scoring in all nine WSC games.

"That's incredible," Hoffman said.
