The Sacramento Bee just released its wrap-up on legislative accomplishments in the last session and guess who failed to pass a single bill last year? Our own 37th District Assembly member Audra Strickland, R-Moorpark.
What exactly is Ms. Strickland doing to earn her state paycheck? Well, we know she was one of the obstructionist Republicans who held up the state's budget this year and forced us into more borrowing.
We know she spent part of the summer dealing with her rogue chief of staff, Joel Angeles, who had a physical altercation with anti-tobacco protesters outside the Westlake Hyatt in June. Angeles' case is now with the state Attorney General's office. Sheriff's detectives typically do not send files on unless they believe charges should be filed, Ventura County Chief Assistant District Attorney Jim Ellison told the Star.
Angeles was put on a short leave by Ms. Strickland and during that time he was spotted out waving signs on street corners for Tony Strickland's State Senate campaign.
Of late she has been doing some election-time grandstanding over the proposed federal prison hospital and broke off from the bipartisan citizens' group to form her own group of Republicans, much to the annoyance of the first group.
Since Ms. Strickland did not pass any legislation on behalf of her constituents, it is not surprising that they aren't donating to her campaign. As of the last filing, just a handful of donors have come from inside the district.
But, like her husband, she is well funded by insurance, oil, tobacco, gambling and alcohol interests.
It would seem mostly out-of-area corporations are interested in keeping Audra Strickland in office.

Democracy Watch is a blog devoted to debunking extreme right wing Republican rhetoric, media, printed material, blogs, videos and all campaign TV ads that are untrue.

I notice you conveniently left out Audra's tireles efforts on behalf of Camarillo residents (her district) to fight the unilateral placement of a prison hospital right next to schools and a residential area. You seem to be yet just another one of these avowed Strickland haters who prefer to throw mud rather than elevate the discussion by talking about the qualificatios and/or any meaningful accomplishments of Tony's and Audra's opponents -- Hannah-Beth Jackson and Ferial Masry.
Your motives are as transparent as they come, Helen. No wonder no one reads your blog.
Please don't throw the spector of the prison hospital around as a scare tactic. I live in Camarillo and I am mad that the Feds had to step in - it should have been taken care of years ago by our elected authorities. End of story. Anything else (including the creation of the new pac) is political posturing.
Audra did zero legislation and I believe there were two other people - I believe it was Tom McClintock and then some guy who was sick and had to miss most of the sessions.
She mentioned the prison hospital johnny-come-lately Republican grandstanding effort.
Lots of people read this blog. Not everyone comments. She had a comment from the former president of Kinko's in an earlier entry.
I believe I did speak to the accomplishments of Ms Strickland. There were none. Facts speak for themselves. Phone push-polls by Audra are backfiring additionally. Voters want change and new leadership.
More accurately stated, Helen, you, Katie, and a few other malcontents want a change to your favorite Democrat Party candidates. That's not the same thing as a groundswell of support for change, as you'd have us all believe.
Just about the only people who benefit from Ms. Strickland being in the Assembly are Stricklands and a few of their government paid gumbas. It is tobacco, gambling, insurance and petrochemical industries who reap the rewards from Ms. Strickland's bubbling. Her baby sitting salary had a huge bump to over $100,000 per year when she was elected. Otherwise, she is just a place holder for her husband, Phony-Tony.
What? Nobody's posted any accomplishments since I last looked in here?
tick, tick, tick Audra. Your time is coming to an end. Stock up on moving boxes.
Look Out,
Wait a second, are you being serious here? Audra is going to lose to Masry? What makes you think so when Audra wiped up the floor with her the last two times?
Stop it already. You're killing me here...
I was reading on the other post where Katie Teague, our stalwart "conservative Republican" voted for Hannah-Beth Jackson, Ferial Masry, and Mark Lisagor in this election (all Democrats). I guess that just about mandates that she re-registers as a Democrat, don't you think? I'll have Phil send you the form in the mail, Katie.
