Have you guys been following the Karl Rove story? Anyways, it looks like he will be " spending more time with the family".
But any bets when?
I am hosting a contest. If you guess the right day I will buy you lunch at the best sub place in the world ( Simi Valley's Subcontractor).
The best part? You don't have to believe he is guilty and will be convicted of anything! He might resign if the attention on him hurts George W. Bush.
So, pick a day and leave it in the comments section. No two people can pick the same day. I will be the judge of all unsaid rules ( Like if someone on double secret background tells you what day to bet on!)
Why subcontractor? Because a good sub leaves no leaks!

My money is on Tuesday the 26th. Unless I'm mistaken...Monday is the 25th. Can I get a bag of Doritos with my sub for my expert editing skills?
Are you kidding? Rove will never resign. He won't have to. He will leave office on the same day that the President leaves office. Bush will take the heat generated by the Rove controversy because a Rove resignation would leave the President up the political stream without a paddle. He knows how he got where he is and who keeps him there. I don't think that covering the butt of another unethical administration operative will make him seriously uncomfortable. Besides, there will be enough Fox News-WS Journal-NY Post (read right-wing media) smoke generated about how "the leaker," whoever that might be, really can't be charged with violating any law, to make this episode an irritant, but little more. Besides, the President can count on the Iraq War heating up, which, with a little help from his friends, will deflect public attention away from the small stuff (ethics in gov't) to more important problems, like terrorism on our shores and scaring the crap out of people so that they forget everything else (it worked during the election, didn't it?).
So I guess I'll have to wait a while for my free lunch, huh?
Like Allan, I say January 20, 2009, the day Bush leaves office. Let's say that if he doesn't resign by January 20, 2006, you owe us lunch.
By the way, I have eaten at the Subcontractor and it is good, but the best sub sandwich shop I know is Big Mo's, Roscoe near Fallbrook.

I'll go ahead and go all in on Thursday the 28th.
August 5th he will be indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice and will resign.
Or, January 19, 2009!
Depending on the strength of the teflon, the weakness of the media and just how far our country has been dragged to the right.
It is the Friday after next; people always get fired on Friday...
Never. Reps will keep spinning until they come up with something the apathetic majority can live with and then it will go away.
Not soon enough. I'll go ahead and say August 9th.

He will resign on August 9, to coincide with the 31st anniversary of Richard Nixon's resignation.
By the way, Subcontractor East or Subcontractor West?
Not soon enough.
August 9th.
Will you bring me my sandwich at work?

What, Karl resign? You got to be kidding, Bush
will pardon him and let Judith Miller rot in jail.
They will just keep changing the subject and
having "Terror Alerts" and drumming lies about
honest, good people like Joe Wilson and his
wife.....look at what they did to John Kerry and Max
Clealand. I often wonder how John MeCain can support
them after the horrific attack ads they did on him
and his family during the 2000 primary, go
figure!
No way will Bush give up Rove!
I'm gonna say January, 2017. He's got to get Jeb Bush two terms to complete the dynasty. Rumor has it, Rove has been spending an inordinate amount of time down in Florida.

We predict Karl Rove will resign on August 6th----a nice, quiet Saturday! Good-bye, Karl; don't let the door hit you on the way out . . .
I think Rove will be fired when the following happens:
1. Kenneth Lay is jailed.
2. Tom Delay steps down as Speaker of the House.
3. Don Rumsfeld is fired.
4. George W. Bush is impeached.
August 12th
I don't yet really know if Rove did anything wrong. I'm waiting for the report by the special investigator. If he did do something wrong, he should resign immediately, no question.

Brian:
I think you raise an interesting question with regards to dynasties in American politics and whether they are dangerous for American politics. I'm not sure you can say one way or the other that it damages the political process as it's too general.
I'll throw some dynasties out there and we can debate them individually, but I'm not sure you can say one way or the other it's good or bad.
Here some I can think of...
Adams
John Adams
John Quincy Adams
Henry Adams
Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Kennedy
John F. Kennedy
Robert F. Kennedy
Ted Kennedy
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Maria Shriver
Patrick Kennedy
Bush
Prescott Bush
George Bush (Sr.)
George W. Bush
Jeb Bush
Clinton
Bill Clinton
Hillary Clinton
Potentially Chelsea Clinton down the road.

LOOSE LIPS

FIRE KARL ROVE
Brian:
You gotta look at the way Republicans designed there primary system and you would definately see McCain could not have been President even if Bush was not in the race in 2000. The second primary is South Carolina, the most conservative state in the union, was put second to ensure no insurgent candidate who wins a yankee election in New Hampshire survives the second primary in the state of Bob Jones University. If Bush was not in the election, some other southern republican would have come to represent this important Republican consituency.
I think Hillary will have a tough race against this DA Pirro. With Weld and Spitzer set to square off as well for Governor, I think New York has some of the best races coming up for national attention.
I don't think Hillary, despite her more recent conservative leanings, has the lock on the democratic nomination even though I think democrats are pretty desperate to win any race including dog catcher at this point.
I am currently reading "Happy Days are Here again" about the 1932 nomination of FDR. It is a great political book to take a look at. I really like TR, the Bull Moose himself.

Brian,
Simi Sam's is the best sandwich in Simi!
Rove will leave (voluntarily) on March 1, 2007, to take over as senior political adviser to the Jeb Bush for President campaign.
