Brian Dennert here. I just recieved a flyer from Chris Robson about an upcoming debate between the three Democratic candidates for congress. ( Mary Pallant, Brett Wagner, Jill Martinez)

What questions should be asked? What issues are critical for our area and our country? Are there any litmus test questions that would make or break your choice for this office?

Do any of them stand a chance to beat Gallegly?

Will the past issues about Brett Wagner resurface?

Here is the flyer word for word from Chris Robson...

The Democratic Club of Camarillo January 5, 2006 meeting will feature a 24th District Congressional Candidate Forum immediately following a brief business. To our knowledge, this is the first time all three candidates will be presenting their campaigns.

The site of the Forum will be the Gardenia room of the Orchid Building, home of UFCW Local 1036 at 816 Camarillo Springs Road.

The Club's business meeting starts at 7:00 and should conclude at 7:30. The Forum will commence at 7:30 and conclude at approximately 8:10, final announcements and adjournment will follow. Informal conversations between candidates, Club members and guests, may ensue following adjournment

Each candidate will have 7 minutes to present and there will be a 15 minute Q and A for all candidates, following all the presentations. The order will be alphabetical, by last name: Jill Martinez, Mary Pallant and Brett Wagner.

Due to my involvement with Mary Pallant's campaign, I will turn the Forum session of the meeting over to Thom Davis, Vice President of the Democratic Club of Camarillo to chair.

Each candidate may bring and distribute one flyer or brochure and one response envelope. No donation receptacles may be passed around the audience. Additional campaign materials can be placed on a table near the entrance.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Chris Robson
President
Democratic Club of Camarillo

Can't wait to hear who will raise our taxes the most.

Has Jill Martinez even declared? I haven't seen a press release posted here or anywhere else.

Brian:

I assume all three candidates supported John Kerry for President. John Kerry supported a significant tax increase on individuals making 200K and above per year. Sounds great until you ask someone incorporated as a sole proprietorship business, which are the number one job providers in the country.

Keep in mind, these small businesses are not allowed to pool health insurance to cut costs and often lack the know how and capital to invest in the legal team to incorporate as a corporation or a partnership.

These are the middle children of the business community that have basically been left behind by the democratic party.

If these people want an issue. How about recent slashing cuts in small business loans in the Small Business Administration? Small business loans ae government-backed loans for start-up businesses and spin-offs. President Eisenhower passed the first SBA programs in the 50's to open up capital markets to more businessowners and entrepreneurs. Sadly, this year, small businesses, entrepreneurs, and start-up firms can't get the needed capital to grow their businesses as fast as they could 20 years ago when SBA funding was much larger.

Of course, I'm sure we'll hear the same diatribe from these democrats going after the evil 1% and restoration of the tax structure that was the highest in almost 50 years.

I'm also interested in whether Pallant supports or opposes the war in Afghanistan. I see she has a picture with her standing next to Congresswomen Barbara Lee, the only member in Congress to vote no on going to war against Osama Bin Laden who masterminded 9/11...

Jon,

If it was a war against Osama Bin Laden how has it worked out? I think you need to clarify or redefine what you mean.

In case you don't remember or aren't paying attention, the US went to war against the Taliban shortly after 9/11. We currently have troops stationed in Afghanistan that are pursuing Osama Bin Laden and those that perpetrated 9/11.

I would like to know if Mary Pallant supports Barbara Lee's position that we should never pursue Osama Bin Laden and should have left Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban after 9/11.

As a voter, this is important to me.

Get a sense of humor. And with the point of view of our intelligence services. You said a war against Bin Laden, I was asking you to clarify, as he is the leader of a group, but we went to war against the group, not one man.

Brian:

What is Mary Pallant's position on Barbara Lee's opposition to the war on terror in afghanistan? This is a valid question because she has a picture of Barbara Lee on her website... I just want to know if I'm voting for someone who is 100% in agreement with Barbara Lee?

Can we ever get a simple yes or no answer?

maybe

Maybe.

Jon,

I don't know the answer, so I guess we will all wait. I would invite you to attend the debate and ask this important question.

Are you going?

Maybe
