Over the last few days Peter Foy sure has been busy. I have seen several large signs of his on the west end of Simi Valley. Jim Dantona ( Who just recieved the endorsement of COPS) and Judy Mikels ( Who has recently updated her website) have many more signs, but it is a start.
Peter Foy has also launched a website. Click here to check it out.
So, how does his campaign change the dynamics of the race? Can he run an upbeat campaign and stay out of the mud? Does he diminish or raise either of the other two candidates more than the other?
If you see a mailer from him, please post the contents here.

Sure he ain't runnin' for country supervisor?
Now this is what I'm talking about!! A candidate who will not accept contributions from developers. (Do you hear that Barbra, Jim, Gary, and Judy?)
And at last, a candidate for supervisor willing to take on illegal immigration. Can you believe all of those protestors today? Enough already!
This is why Peter Foy has been my guy all along!
I am glad Peter Foy will attack George W. Bush and the rest of the Republican Party which has refused to try to secure the borders.
I imagine that Peter would agree that not even trying to secure the borders is likely a high crime.
Mitch, do you agree that is the president refuses to attempt to protect the borders, he should be impeached and removed from office?
Chippy
Oh I hear you Mitch..I just don't want some millioneir to BUY their election.
Barbra
It's Randy Hoffman and Ron Bamieh all over again ... Likely destined for the same fate.
I don't remember Randy Hoffman. Please fill us in.
Hoffman is a wealthy man who tried to purchase the 2nd District Supervisor seat, only to lose to Linda Parks. Bamieh, same thing, tried to purchase the D.A. job, only to lose to Greg Totten. Barbra endorsed and supported Bamieh, by the way.
Foy is a wealthy insurance salesman who likes to see pictures of himself in front of tractors. He even lists himself as a "farmer" on his ballot statement. Go figure. As not so eloquently stated yesterday at an anti-boycott rally yesterday, "I was in my garage this morning but that don't make me a car."
Yup, I endorsed Ron and I would do it again. It's not that I didn't or don't like our current DA, I just don't like the status quo choosing our next anything....
Maybe he is a farmer and an excutive of a large financial thing at the sametime farmer foy!
CLASSIC Barbra (ne Barbara, as it was spelled before her FBI/DA investigation scare), JUST stated here on this string just ONE day ago:
"I just don't want some millioneir to BUY their election," Barbra/Barbara said.
Just scroll up to see the statement for real.
Yet Barbra/Barbara endorsed a millionAIRE who tried to BUY his election, Ron Bamieh -- just like Barbra/Barbara said she did not want to happen.
Pfffffffffffffft. Get real, Barbra/Barbara. You liked Bamieh purchasing an election, but not Foy???
Pffffffffffffffffffffffft.
Any sober person could see through your total BS.
What farming business does Mr. Foy have that justifies his "farmer" title?
To use the title on the ballot, one must legally earn a living at it. I ask because Foy never makes mention of it in his mailers or on his web site.
He does talk plenty about his financial "thing."
Don't get me wrong - the hats are nice and I like a good manly tractor as much as the next guy. Just wondering why no mention at all is made of something he purports to be?
I don't fault him at all for making lots of money. Money alone simply will not buy an election.
Nostradamus -
Interesting attack from someone whose signature song is "I Wanna Be Sedated."
;)
Nostradamus,
I think you need to offer evidence of wrong doing before anyone will take your "investigation scare" comment seriously. Show us proof and then we'll believe differently.
Barbra,
When are the voters going to get a positive message and vision from your boy Dantona. It's been nothing but negativity since the beginning. We know he's different than Mikels and Foy, but what is he actually going to do?
I supported Bamieh because I only had two choices. It was him or NOT vote...I chose to vote, but then you probably wouldn't understand that would you Mr. Nostradamus??? To bad you can't prove the FBI investigation stuff, and even if it were true, obnviously they didn't find anything cause I am still here, still on the Council (which really erks you) and well I guess the results speak for themselves...
Jim has not had one PERSONAL attach against Judy Mikels. He has made mention of the $$$ she's recieved before passing an ordenince disallowing others to do the same, and if you check the records you will see she does spend alot of time going to "other" meetings rather than the Supervisors Meetings or VCTC........where or where can she be??
Go to Jim's web site...it will talk issues, however, I think you already know that Mitch..
Since when has pointing out a public official's failure to do her job become a "personal attack". Dantona's done nothing more that point at the public record and ask the voters to make a choice. That's called "democracy" and if dealing with it is too much for Mikels and her supporters to handle, then she should find other work.
She once told me at a meeting that if I didn't like her management style I could try to vote her out of office. I will.
Is Jim Dantona or Judy Mikels a farmer? If not, they can't really represent farmers like Farmer Foy.
Anyone who did not consider Dantona's goofy "Sprawl vs. Smart Growth" mailer a personal attack needs to be drug tested. Period.
It's hilarious how Jimbob used an Indian Hills tract home sitting ON A HILLSIDE next to a golf course to illustrate "smart growth."
In the early '90s, Jimbob once represented a client developer (Dantona working for a developer? Gasp!) by arguing before the Simi Valley Planning Commission that it was smarter to ignore the city's voter-approved hillside protection ordinance, and instead allow homes IN the hills (actually, ON TOP of the hills), and a golf course on flatter land immediately below. They laughed him out of the room. It was one of the dumbest land-use concepts ever proposed in this city. But Jim Dantona made some cash off that developer who he worked for.
Luckily that bad idea, for land at the south end of Sequoia, died.
Smoke another bowl, GS.
The only "personal" attacks I see are those posted on this site by Nostrildamus. Lots of rhetoric, conspiracy theories, whisper campaigns (and drug references) and nothing to show for it. Very "bush league" of you Nostril.
But then maybe he hates golf and loves a overdeveloped Santa Clarita Valley hillside.
Actually the dumbest land-use concept ever proposed EXISTS in the Santa Susana Knolls. And it was Judy Mikels that allowed it. I am sure GS can provide the address of where the most ridiculous excuse for a home now stands. Maybe a photo as well? Sqqqquuuueeeeze that overweight structure into a paper cup size lot and thumb your nose at the community while you do it.
And her illegal dump-site on Woolsey Canyon? That's sure some smart land use. But then it seems Judy is partial to land-fills.
So, what WERE the "personal attacks" in Dantona's
"SvsSG" mailer? Were they the parts about Mikels' poor record? her lavish attention to out-of-state developers? Maybe the portions about the garbage we can expect if she stays in office? Her support of illegal activities throughout the County? Perhaps her absenteeism? Last I heard, those things were all part of the job and the Queen Bee of the County Board blew it!
Trying to excuse HER own record by attacking Dantona for pointing it out is Mikels' only defense. Especially after that assinine letter threatening Moorpark voters with a prison if they didn't vote for NorthPark. Hahahhahahah!
Boy this string strayed from what Brian first posted. What about Foy? Did anyone get his automated call that said he would audit county government, and find out what benefits illegal immigrants were getting so he could get rid of them? First, I don't think Foy understands that he's running for ONE position on the Board of Supervisors, not for Monarch of the County. Whatever he wants to do, he needs at least two other Supervisors to agree with him. Good luck on cutting services for the needy. Second, it seems he does not understand at all how government operates, and how the state and federal governments mandate services that counties must provide, like hospital care for anyone who walks into a hospital, regardless of citizenship status (or even ability to pay). Counties that disregard these mandates have significant state and/or federal funding withheld (that's their hammer). Therefore what Foy proposes would cost county government millions upon millions of dollars, and ultimately force the Supes to cut the budget for every single department, including Foy's supposedly beloved public safety agencies. Not sure if he thought that one through. Not sure he knows that he's running for the wrong office. If it's illegal immigration he cares about, he should eye Washington, D.C., not Ventura, Calif.
Just some random thoughts ...
Beware of candidates offering to protect "community values".
Thanks for bringing the topic back to Peter Foy and what he brings to the campaign.
What farm does he run?
Mr. Foy wasn't even aware that the Supervisors got paid....
Barbra
Well, I for one support Foy because he's the only candidate who is not taking money from developers. I think that's one thing we can all agree on.
Dantona, on the other hand, accepts money from developers and then attacks Mikels for doing the same. Shouldn't Dantona give the developer money back? When will the hypocrisy (aka the Dantona Campaign) end? Perhaps June 7th when Foy and Mikels advance to a run off in November. (That's going to be fun too!)
When did Dantona attack Mikels for accepting developers' money? Seems to me that he's attacked her record of catering to developers at the expense of her constituents and that's not the same thing. Jim Dantona's got no problem with developers that work WITH the community to bring the best projects to this area. Since Foy's not said what he'll do except protect "community values", which I have to assume means protecting the culture of over-development that's choking our community, I'll stick with Dantona.
Old Farmer Foy had an insurance agency, he-hi, he-hi, ho!
Well, well well... Things got awfully quiet around here since Friday. I think every one knows there's a gorilla in the room. I'm sure by now word has spread about the attack ad that appeared in the local (B) section of the Ventura County Star. If you haven't, do yourself a favor and check it out.
In a nutshell, Jim Dantona formed a fake political organization called (of all things) Republicans for Ethical Government, and made Dee Dee Cavanaugh its Treasurer (more on that in a moment). Then they tracked down a former Mikels staffer with a grudge and got him to sign his name (nice touch) to a statement that the Dantona team cooked up. Next, they printed the "statement" in an advertisement and placed it in the Ventura County Star.
What's significant is that this fake organization is so new and so fake, that they don't have a FPPC (Fair Political Practices Commission) identification number. The lack of a FPPC number is significant because it prevents the average voter from investigating the credibility of the organization responsible
for paying for this ad. Don't be fooled people! This is an organization funded by Jim Dantona!
And why is Dee Dee Cavanaugh's involvement relevant? She is a Manager for First California Bank, who just happens to employ Barbra Williamson. Yes, THAT Barbra Williamson, the one who has been the most outspoken of all of Jim Dantona's supporters/endorsers. (You may know her from this blog.) A quick check of Dantona's campaign finance filings will uncover that his campaign uses First California Bank for its deposits. Sounds like some kind of conflict of interest to me.
The bottom line is there's no guessing who is behind this ad. Jim Dantona is the only candidate in this race that has openly questioned and subsequently attacked Judy Mikels. But Jim, why did a left-leaning liberal like you drag the Republicans into this web of lies?
"a former Mikels staffer with a grudge..."
"The Stricklands are vindictive..."
"McClintock holds a grudge..."
Williamson, Cavanaugh blah blah blah...
Just an observation: So many terms in office and so many grudges - and so many of them from fellow Republicans.
Gorilla or not, nothing changes the fact that Mikels either did not lie or she did lie and it shouldn't be hard to figure out what's what. But if she DID lie then she ought to (1) resign from office, (2) face a grand jury investigation and (3) repay the monies the taxpayers have shelled out while she was away from her job.
Can you please post the letter here?
Mikels should resign, Mikels should face a grand jury investigation, Mikels should repay the monies, but in the end when she keeps letting Foy beat her out on every position she'll be retired by the voters and sent home.
So a former staff member sees Judy hold a press conference to cover up her lie and pretend she lives in Simi. Then he prepares an open statement to tell the public the truth and somehow there is a conspiracy here? Could it be that Judy just doesn't like the truth?
Maybe it was the shooter on the grassy knoll? Or maybe a sound-stage in Hollywood and we never landed on the moon? What is it Mikels' campaign - a vast right-wing conspiracy? Who is Judy, Bill Clinton? They do share one thing in common, a secret they didn't want to come out. Republicans are out to get Judy? Or she is such an embarassment to our party we are ready to move on?
Plain fact is, voters could probably sympathize with the back and forth charges about Mikels' absentee record if it were only a Democrats vs Republicans issue. But it's not. Its a clear cut issue of whether or not their elected official has committed fraud and cheated taxpayers and that's NOT a partisan issue. I'm registered as an unaffiliated voter, an independent. I'm extremely forgiving and worked for over a year and a half to meet with Mikels in an attempt to find common ground between the Knolls community and the Developer that wanted to build nine appartment complexes in a fire prone, dead end canyon. Mikels refused to help her constituents and arrogantly stated that her job required her to protect the developer's profits. That's not a Republican response; that's simple arrogance, bordering on misfeasance. After studying Mikels' peformance as Supervisor, it's apparent that the incumbent suffers from some sort of political neurosis characterized by a cold arrogance towards her constituents. That's not a partisan illness but a character flaw that makes her unfit for representing either party, let alone her constituents.
The Supervisor race is non-partisan and should remain that way. Voters of both parties, AND us independents, should focus only on Mikels' performance in office and her challengers' records of community service. If those are the only criteria, voters will select the best person to represent us all after June 6.
I just got my ballot in the mail yesterday. I thought you were kidding with the "Farmer" title, but there it is Peter Foy - Business Owner/Farmer. Has he said where his farm is?
From what I've heard in the community it isn't behind his gated home in Simi. On the web his business is listed as an Insurance Services, not farming.
I had some serious reservations about this candidate after seeing his mailers and how he could tackle the issues he has identified. Now this blatant attempt to make himself look like a man of the land stinks of typical politics.
I want to go back to the "Gorilla" in the room............actually I see him as a monkey... I want to tell the readers of this blog of a happening that occurred Friday....Mr. Dantona's office received an e-mail from Mr. Jakjo threatening law suit against Jason Oliver and Dee Dee Cavanuagh because he went to college and took a course in libal...(he must not have passed, because we all know he is not an attorney..)I know for a fact that Mr. Jakjo on several occasions has told more than one person how he hated working for Judy M and what a B---- she was, and how she was always in Arizona....He even mentoned that she blamed him for losing the Senate race against McClintock so I fail to see where the libal comes in when there are so many witness as to what he said????
There was mention of me working for First California Bank and Jim Dantona having his campaign account there...I fail to see the point or the conflict of interest!
The letter sent by Jason was important and needed to be printed. Unfortunately the Star is endorseing Judy and wouldn't print the letter...(They are holding several letters, including some I have sent)so I took it upon myself to take matter in my own hands....
There is more than one way to skin a cat!
Barbra
Jason -
Did you ever consider that I might be reaping the harvest of all the souls I have saved (and insured) via my Christian Coalition? Oh ye of little faith and imagination.
Replace the Bill of Rights! Death to adulterers! Long live cowboy hats!
Does Peter Foy really think he can make Republican voters believe he has participated in party politics or the community. Judy Mikels has spent a lifetime building her base while Foy is trying to buy his republican credentials. Foy take your trackter and cowboy hat and go back to Woodland Hills.
Hmmm...
Mitch praises Foy above, then blasts him down below. That's an intersting scenario, or perhaps it finally dawned on him that Foy is actually digging into Judy's crumbling "base."
It's only a matter of time before she labels him a vengeful, vindictive farmer with a grudge.
The nearest Peter Foy has ever come to farming is throwing bs!
In this time of political maneuvering and misinformation, political ugliness, it is rare to find a candidate that an entire neighborhood can stand behind. It is rare to find a candidate who listens to constituents and says what he means. And means what he says.
Jim Dantona has been actively asking, actively seeking his future constituents' viewpoint and concerns.
We think this is pretty special. We think this is unique and worthy of news.
In honor of this outstanding Ventura County 4th District Supervisorial candidate, the neighbors of Susana Knolls, Box Canyon, Lilac and the surrounds are throwing a party!
