Jim Alger's signs have dropped all around town. Here is a picture I took by the McDonald's on Yosemite. His signs don't say what position he is running for and they seem really small/short.
I can see the tactics involved with this though. The primary will soon be over. When all the paper signs are worn down, Team Alger can pick up their signs and wait until the end of summer. Durable and strong over big and flashy.
The question remains if anything Alger does can break open the race because of the partisan numbers. Democrats will retain the state assembly with or without this seat, so state level help might be tough to come by. On the other hand, Alger might be able to get interest by spending some money. He does own his own plane, which means I would imagine he could throw in a few bucks and attract attention.
Thoughts?

I'd hammer in the morning. I'd hammer in the evening...
That is a pretty damn smart idea.
He gets his name out there (which is the point after all) without baiting either Republicans or other primary supporters to pull his signs down... Those that need to know his name will recognize it on the ballot.
And your right, those are some expensive two sided corrugated plastic signs that will hold up to sprinklers/rain etc. They will look as good in a month as they do today.
Pretty damn smart.
I attached a link to a good story about Jim flying his plane to the Gulf after Katrina to help in the rescue and recovery effort.
This is the kind of guy we need in the Assembly.

Hello,
Mitch Carlson here, Concerned American,
Signs signs everywhere signs….
This story brings to mind something that my old man used to tell me growing up, something I have passed on to my on sons as they have grown up as well.
The bear will always run
Yet the eagle will always watch
Mitch
Is Jim Dantona, Mayor Lopez, and Jim Alger running as a team?
Not even sure they could do that. I think the placement of Algers' signs was based on where others were although I am starting to see them on private property now as well.
I read on another post about Jim trolling around town in some silver electric car with a plate AD 38 and covered in antennas... I'd like to see a photo of that.
Usually politicians wait until after they are elected to not follow through on promises, but with a few weeks to go before the primary Citizen Alger still has not unveiled a traffic plan he promised months ago.
Here are his words from his campaign website.
"Transportation/Traffic - Whether you live or work in Simi Valley, Santa Clarita, Newhall or the San Fernando Valley, traffic is a major concern. In the upcoming months, I will be unveiling a comprehensive plan to ease congestion on our roads and make public transportation more convenient."
Months ago this was promised. Where is it? Are democrats not important enough to receive your plan?
What part of "comprehensive" did we miss?
This morning Citizen Alger failed to get the endorsement of the San Fernando Democratic Party. I think many democrats have reservations about Jim Alger and his lack of party credentials.
Jim:
Where is the comprehensive transportation plan?
Why don't dems in San Fernando Valley endorse you?
Did Lopez or Dantona endorse him?
Ummm... the democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley voted no endorsement almost a month ago. The story isn't that Alger didn't get it, the story is that he blocked long time party activist and chair of the democratic womens caucaus (with whom you obviously support) from getting the endorsement.
No one questions Jim Algers' "Democratic Credentials" except his opponent who has yet to offer a single comment on a single issue in the entire district.
Jim's traffic proposal was released months ago, if you clowns had been campaigning you would have known that.
Can you bozoz at the Ethelyn Williams, aka Ethelyn Shaw aka Ethelyn Hilfenhaus camp ever say a single good thing about your candidate without bashing Alger?
Just once?
Jim took 56% at the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley, his opponent took 44%.
Jim took 58% at the State Party Endorsement Caucus, his closest opponent took 38% (including her own family's vote which accounted for 30%).
The threshold was 60% and 70%. The state party and the Democratic Party have clearly rejected Jim Algers' opponent. She should have been a shoe-in with all of her ties. Everyplace Jim Alger goes he gets nearly 60% but falls just short of the threshold. Not bad at all for a guy who isn't the "party chosen".
Then again, Alger cares about the people, knows the issues and isn't running his campaign under an alias, unlike his opponent but we'll save that for another day.
Jim Alger doesn't believe companies that do 9 million in business, but have 13 employees should be required to give a pregnant woman paid medical leave according to CWA questionnaire on his website.
Technically, a development firm with 20 million in land assets and six employees gets a free pass on paid medical leave under Jim Alger's position.
This is clearly a profits over people position.
Alger does not list his traffic plan on his website. What's he hiding?
Alger has failed to unify the democratic party and has no plans to improve education. He doesn't even list a position on teacher pay and class size.
If elected, Jim Alger would only slightly support employer paid and publicly subsidized leave for job training for worker displaced in this economy.
One questions his commitment to a safety net at all.
Jim Alger is weak on consumer protection. Accordinhg to Alger, he would only punish manufacturers and distributors for products that harm children.
Yet, he misses the point. Stores that sell dangerous products to children should also be liable, regulated, and suits brought if they sell products dangerous to children.
It's called protecting children Alger...
Democrats should question Jim Alger's ineffectual response on protecting our children from dangerous products produced in China and sold in our marketplace.
He seems to lack a clear understanding of what it takes to protect consumers.
Is all you can do on here is LIE and ATTACK Jim Alger???
Do YOU have a candidate YOU can tell us WHY we should SUPPORT?
Jim has come out to PROTECT the SMALL Mom & Pop business with small amounts of employees not "companies making $9 Million.
If you cripple the small business that can barely afford the 4 employees it has now, forcing them to provide paid leave in addition to them having t hire an additional employee could put them out of business.
Oh, and Jim Alger is the only candidate running who HAS a children so don't even begin to lecture us about your spin on his positions.
Your attacks against him on this and other blogs never offer an alternative. Just completely spun out of whack positions that dont even remotely reflect Jim Algers actual positions.
Of course, Jim Alger is the only candidate who even has bothered to take a position on ANY issue in the 38th, or thought enough of the people of Simi Valley to campaign here.
So, a pregnant woman in a 23 employee law firm, development LLC, or doctor's office will not get paid medical leave?
Alger's "too bad medical leave position" sounds more like Republican than Democrat party talking points.
Stop hiding behind mom and pops with your benefit the corporate subsidiary scheme.
Sounds like Alger puts development companies and Law firms ahead of working men and women in this state with that position.
Why did he say he only slightly supports job training for displaced workers instead of fully supporting job training?
Alger's profits before people medical leave plan sounds more like triangulation than core democratic beliefs.
The fact that he gives a diluted answer for the rest of our children leads me to believe Alger will look the other way when it comes to REAL consumer protection in favor of corporate greed.
Oh yeah, where's the transportation plan he promised? It's not on the website? Wouldn't you want to put something out on a web page where you promised a transportation plan?
His positions raises a lot more questions on Alger's commitment to a REAL social safety net, consumer protection, and protecting workers.
Jim Alger's position on paid family medical leave would force workers in businesses with under 25 employees such as law firms, development companies, and doctor's offices to choose between caring for a sick spouse or a paycheck.
This position is out of step with 163 countries who offer paid medical leave.
His position of 25 employees also opens the door for pregnancy discrimination in the workplace. Pregnant women should be treated like any other disabled employee in the workplace regardless of business employee size.
To open the door as Alger has stated regarding family medical leave would damage the specific needs of pregnant women in the workplace and equal treatment with women who work for firms with let's say 100 employees.
And your candidates position is???
Thats right, she doesn't have one so all you acn do is attack Alger and take his questionaires out of context.
These aren't attacks on Alger, they are attacks on his position on family medical leave among other things. Workers shouldn't have to choose between their paycheck and caring for their sick spouse or their newborn baby.
Unfortunately, Jim Alger has taken the position that anyone who works for a company with 25 or less must make that false choice.
That's called choosing profits over people, plain and simple.
He should change his position.
First of all you ARE attacking Jim Alger and making blanket statements about a question he answered in an attempt to sway public opinion against him. Your characterizations are of course FALSE.
Second, you really want to take a shot at a guy who has a son and HAS A BABY ON THE WAY about where he stands on the rights of pregnant women?
He has NEVER chosen "profits over people". Right now anyone who works AT ANY SIZE COMPANY has to make that "false choice" as you call it.
Ever occur to you that creating a number of 25 employees is a way to get legislation "through the door"???
Legislating must be done responsibly and if every small business (not 9 million dollar business but SMALL businesses) was forced to pay people months worth of salary they would go under and thereby increase unemployment.
For every action there is a reaction.
Hey "Democrat Alert"... People do make a choice. THEY CHOOSE TO HAVE A BABY. I own a business and employ 10 people. (3 for 3 shifts and a janitor) If one of my employees has a child I am required to give her 6 weeks unpaid leave. Fair enough. But I didn't get her pregnant, why on earth should I have to pay for her leave?
All I would end up doing is either laying off an employee or raising prices. Probably both.
Algers position seems to strike a balance and is obviously geared to the larger corporations.
That's not good enough for you, you want it all.
The big guys have the profit margins. Us small guys don't. With taxes, workers compensation, insurance, and rent I take home not a whole lot more than my employees.
Tell me who your candidate is that wants to put me out of business so I can be sure to work against them.
By the way Jim, this imbecile just got you a donation from me. We need level headed people like you in Sacramento.
I agree with Jake 100% Jim Alger's position seems carefully thought out to get the ball rolling in the right direction and this other idea of all or nothing is moronic.
Here is a choice... Choose not to have a baby until you can afford to do so. How is that for freedom of choice? Why must the rest of society, be it the employers or the taxpayers through the welfare system, be forced to pay because a woman chose to have a baby? I had no say in that choice.
When my wife and I had our daughter we planned it, we had nearly 8 months notice that we were going to need to pull in on the reigns financially and we did it. Oh, and there wasn't no family leave act then either.
These idiots who support another candidate but refuse to represent their own candidate speaks volumes about where they are on the issues.
Admittedly I already voted for Jim Alger by absentee, as did my family so these last minute attacks mean nothing to me anyway.
Don't worry. Everyone knows these attacks come from the drug convicted, bankrupt, multiple failed marriage, running under an alias opposition.
They only have attacks. These guys couldn't find Simi Valley on a map but they figure if they trash Alger with lies and deception they might have a chance when they try and mail it in.

Heads up, "Democrat Alert" is what blogosphere folks like to call a "concern troll" -- giving supposedly helpful advice to a group to which they don't belong. The line "Democrat Party" is a dead giveaway that this fool listens to more Fox News and CRA / Stephen Frank B.S. than anything progressive.
Don't quit yr day job, fool.

There are individuals in this blog that don’t like what I have to say, so they are now resorting to making fake posts using my name in order to discredit me. This is an underhanded, sleazy tactic that needs to be exposed. I will not be intimidated or silenced by these types of tactics and dirty tricks. Anybody who values truth and honesty has an obligation stand up against this as well. Even if you don’t like what someone has to say, all of us need to be committed to giving everyone the right to freely express their views. Otherwise we undermine free speech and sabotage the expression of ideas. And exactly what purpose would this blog serve if it simply became a tool to wage smear campaigns and spread lies against others?
I just got a recorded plug for Jim Alger on my CELL PHONE!!!
