Judy Mikels sent out a mail piece that alleges Jim Dantona is acutally the tool of corporate interests like Waste Management. It even used the classic one candidate in color, one in black and white tool. Why is Judy Mikels insensitive to color blind voters? Why does she mock them?
Earlier this week, I recieved a mail piece that said it was Judy Mikels that was the tool of Waste Management.It showed pictures of trash trucks driving into Simi Valley. I liked the background. It was the same neighborhood he used for the sprawl mailer but with green unmarked trucks. I wonder what trucks they were suppossed to be? I think between the two candidates they have made Waste Management and a possilble expansion a top issue. So, who is the tool of Waste Management? Are they just stuck in an election year crossfire? If anyone from WM wants to bring me up for a tour, send me an e-mail. If you let me drive a huge crane or something cool I promise just to write nice things.
I also read The Star story today that said: She ( Mikels) spent $15,000 for polling and he (Foy) spent $10,445 for polling. Anyone have access to these or other polls? If so, I'd love to see them. I always think it is funny when politicians use polls and then run away from them. They all use polls, nothing wrong with that.
I recieved a Jim Dantona mail piece from his ex-wife. It was great. His ex goes on and on about what a great guy he is and how supportive he has always been. There was also a great shot of him and his kids on the front. This tactic seems pretty effective to me. What do you think?
I haven't recieved anything at all from Peter Foy. In the past I have heard of campaigns sending someone down to the post office to go through junk mail by the trash cans to see what other campaigns are sending out. More effective would be just e-mailing me the text of a mailer.

Wow, $15,000 for a polling? Guess she didn't like the results of what she saw..... from the looks of her last mailer.
Brian, my significant other loved the ex-wife piece. You would think that an ex-wife would do nothing but tear down their ex-spouse, but there it is, her writing some very nice things about him. Tough to argue with that.
Two things on Waste Management: 1) If Mr. Dantona has represented them in the past, it shows he's not bought off by them because he has openly made an issue of their expansion. It only enforces my belief Dantona is best for the job. 2) I think Dantona's mailer and Mr. Frank's blog have highlighted a big issue for this community and Mikels poor decision on not putting this forward to the public. Why should we bear the brunt of LA's trash? I read in the Daily News that LA no longer wants the trash in their backyard, so we should want it in ours?
Finally, if your information is correct on the polling done by the candidates, then Ms. Mikels' attack on Mr. Dantona makes perfect sense - she got confirmation that Mr. Dantona's message is working and she's in trouble. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Dantona has really seized the momentum and it will be difficult for Mikels to stop it.
So Brian! Been meaning to ask: what's your take on THE FEDERALIST PAPERS? Political PR or the actual Cliff Notes to the real thing?
I've never been able to guage the veracity of Hamilton, Madison & Jay's essays and its caused me no end of sleepless night thinking "Is this REALY what the Founders intended? Cause if so, why haven't we listened?"

Is Mikels saying taking money from Waste Management is bad? I would think that she has also had their support in the past.
Is she also saying that the guy who went to their front gates, demanded a chunk of land, and threatened to use the ballot box to take it from them is bought off by them? If so, what more aggressive action is Mikels going to take? Build a bugger palace to socer with a 100 foot tall diamond ball with a laser show after every game?
Wont get much out of Foy cause he's not running for Supervisor. he may have filed and he may have lots of signs out but he's really out creating name recognition for races in the near future. Doing a pretty good job of it for now but then he's not telling us anything about what's behind that name either. Think that's a deliberate ploy or is he just too new to politics?
I think Peter Foy will be running for congress soon.
Does the Mikels' Attack include knocking down Dantona signs? Or is it just the act of misguided Mikels' supporters? It seems that by far it's Dantona signs being targeted, while Foy & Mikels signs remain untouched. Also, quite a few of the CANTINA RALLY notices are being removed or torn up by someone, presumably a Mikels supporter.
Any thoughts?

The WMI landfill expansion is true! I read it in THE STAR, so it must be. Finally a REAL issue is out in the open for all to read about. My apologies for having doubted the Editors.
So explain: how does an incumbent that runs for reelection based on her thorough knowledge and handling of County matters be in the dark about an important, coummunity-changing proposal like WMI's expansion...even as those plans are being circulated amongst County officials? There are only three answers: either Mikels is incompetent or she is spending too much time in Arizona or she's been lying all along and is secretly working with WMI. Any one of those answers should automatically disqualify ANYONE from holding office now and anytime in the future.
Fact is, Mikels is just another of those opportunistic politicians, Dem OR Repub, that simply will not take responsibility for their actions. Its a growing trend that's killing America and so we need to take on the responsibility of seeing that she is fired on June 6!
Does anyone find it odd that Dantona's last stand rally is at a biker bar in the Knolls, on the Pass road?
I hope the CHP is out in force on Kuehner drive that night...
We were gonna hold it at El Mercado's in Tuscon but that's been booked 70% of the time for the other candidate's rallies.
But hey, come on over and see WHY the unincorporated areas will be voting for Jim by a 6:1 margin. One clue are the stone monoliths in view of The Cantina. You know, the historic ones that Judy claims to have helped save, although the extent of her help was to tell the women that approached her about them that if they didn't want to see the rocks blown up they could buy the property themselves. Oh, I guess Judy "forgot" to mention that in her recent mailer, didn't she!
Anyways, come on and have a burger and look out over all the great landmarks that will be gone soon...if Judy gets to protect the environment, her way!

Good for THE ACORN! While others ignored the problem, which affects all of us, it took the local MiniMedia to do the reporting. The illegal (according to county officials) dump that's been growing by leaps and bounds just east of Sage Ranch and north of Rocketdyne is now officially shut down until county agencies investigate just what's been dumped there. I wouldn't count on finding Hoffa's remains but who knows. Thanks, to the Santa Susana Mountain Park Association and their unflagging attentions to this problem!
