.Some people come here for the funny photoshops. Some come to read my opinion about issues. Many come here to see the latest political events. But the greatest thing that drives day to day traffic is the conversation and comments people leave after each entry.

Earlier in the week I announced we were approaching comment # 3000. Well, we are there. But first a bit of an intro.

The web allows people to connect in new ways. For politics it allows candidates, volunteers, voters to a certain degree, the press, donors, and more to discuss, learn, organize, and argue. A candidate that gets the idea is a future looking candidate. A candidate that ignores the entire medium is living in the past. I am suppossed to call back an activist group tonight that wants to donate time and money to a local campaign but they want help choosing. Should I choose a campaign that has a poor web presence and doesn't engage voters in a variety of ways? There are some candidates that ignore everything the web can do. Bad mistake.

I haven't endorsed Donna Prenta. I don't know much about her opponent. But I do know that Donna Prenta wants to engage people about the issues wherever she encounters them. That is a good thing in a campaign. So, Mrs. Prenta good work and I hope to see more from you and all the other candidates in the races this fall. We will have another posting for comment # 4000 when it occurs.

Here is Donna Prenta's comment:

If you have any further questions or would like to let me know the issues that are important to you I can be reached at tprenta@aol.com or 805-404-0914.

Thank you again for taking an interest in my campaign. Together we can make a difference in children's live and help Ventura County to continue to be a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.

Is Becerra paying this blog to promote him?

Maybe her name should be "Pronto Prenta" because you can get answers from her fast!

If your activist friends are looking to invest their time and money in our community's most vital natural resource, its children, then they can't do better than get behind Donna Prenta. Though we haven't met yet I've spoken with Donna at length and I know that she's deeply committed to Ventura County's children and their future. I also know, though others are trying to keep it the news from the public, that Donna is presently being pressured by local politicos to abandon her work and allow a more unqualified and unworthy candidate to run for the Ventura County Schoold Board, unopposed. Donna Prenta will not cave in to these pressures; she is a more devoted advocate for our kids than that. And if these same politicos truly seek the best for Ventura County's children they will reconsider their positions and give Donna Prenta the endorsements and support that this unusually devoted, immensely qualified and hugely successful advocate has earned year after year. Anything else would be a grave disservice to the families of our County.

California Neighborhood Union hopes to work with County leaders and all others to elect Donna Prenta, the most qualified candidate, to the Ventura County School Board.

GS have any names? I'd hope you could so that others don't think you are making it up.

I'll wait til Tuesday, to give time to at least a couple of local politicos that learned about it before me to step up and do the right thing. How's that?

Good to see the site up and running again! Thanks, Brian!

Does Kunicki know it's an election year?

Dean's assumed that he'd be the only one in the race, according to (his handlers') plans. That didn't work out to well after Donna basically told the handlers to stuff their plans where they won't get tanned, and is campaigning at full steam. God bless her!

I was supposed to name some names tomorrow but with the site down for three days I hope no one holds it against me if I keep it under wraps a little longer. I have heard that a couple of those names may be meeting with Donna (maybe to give her their support, as they should?) and will allow them that time to speak out themselves.

Gary,

Let's all calm down. I will clear this up for everyone so we can get back to the issues.

I asked Audra Strickland for her support and endorsement and told her about my campaign in a series of conversations. Audra has known me for four years through my work for special education. Audra and Tony have both given my husband and I, my brother, and our parents certificates of recognition for our commitment to students seeking higher education and major donations to provide teacher grants and college scholarships to students that are in special educaiton and peer tutors in general ed. that volunteer to work with students with special needs. We started the peer tutors scholarships to promote leadership in students and also to foster acceptance of all students.

Audra is aware that the County Schools governs the Special Education Local Planning Area and that I am a passionate advocate for all children and have worked hard for special ed. Audra called me from Sacramento, I told her I was sitting next to a friend having lunch when she made the phone call so she knew the public could find out; that was her choice. She did not ask me to withdraw from the VCBOE race she offered to support me on the local school board because there are two open seats since she has already endorsed Dean. She told me she liked me and wants to help me and I would have a better chance to win the local school board race because Dean was an incumbent-I pointed out to her that he was an appointed incumbent, that he had run for this seat before and lost, so clearly the people of this district did not choose him.

Of course she made this offer three days before the deadline to file knowing I had already started an aggressive campaign, raised money from individuals and had a strong volunteer base and numerous endorsements countywide from elected officials. Dean knows that I have been campaigning since January. I told Audra that she should reconsider her offer and support me for the County Board of Ed. because I am clearly the better candidate and it would be best for the consituents. I also told her I would not betray my supporters that were helping me in my campaign some as far back as January. I made it extremely clear that I was not running to hold ANY elected position that I was NEEDED on the County Board of Education and I am deeply committed to my campaign. In an earlier conversation she told me she supported Dean because he supports charter schools in Ventura County (he voted to approve Vista Real.)

I suggested that she should make the offer to Dean because I am clearly the better candidate and committed to my supporters and my campaign. I do not know if she made the offer to Dean only she does, so maybe she did. She apologized and said she hoped that I did not think she was rude. The conversation was polite and civil.

I do not want to discuss this issue any further, I have told you everything there is to know, let's put it to rest, PLEASE!

I am choosing to keep the focus of my campaign positive and on the issues. Many of my supporters have never worked on a campaign before and I want this to be a fun and positive experience for them. I also believe it is for the good of the community to focus on the issues that are important for our children and their education. If we keep the discussion on our children's quality of education we can build better community partnership's and ensure our children's success.

Thank you Gary for your help and confidence in me. We are going to have fun working together and help our community to be a better place.

Thank you, Donna, for the clear explanation. The issue is put to rest.

Why is Strickland trying to keep people from running? How un-democratic of her trying to limit our choices. I'm voting for Prenta!

If I were Donna Prenta, I would consider it a supreme compliment that Audra Strickland is even interested in what's best for Ms Prenta. It might mean that Audra might be afraid for HER candidate....

Exactly what job do the Stricklands want to run for? Evidently, it doesn't matter.

In CQPolitics.com, it states: Ventura County elections officials confirmed that Strickland’s wife Audra entered their office Friday after Gallegly’s announcement to try to file for the seat on behalf of her husband, but was told she could not because he had already qualified for the Controller’s race.

She then asked to file for herself, but she had also already qualified for her own re-election to the state Assembly.

Controller, Assembly, Congress...come on... pick a job, any job!

Clearly Audra Strickland doesn't really care about representing the AD-37, and Tony will run for anything that his wife can sign him up to do!

Someone should photoshop a picture for Dennert with the Stricklands as GodFather type bosses.

Who do they want us to vote for this year in the Park Board race?

Why does everyone see a plot when Audra and Tony are brought up.

The two are the hardest working conservative couple in the state.

If Tony was governor and Audra as first lady ( maybe some day!) then I know many problems would not exist.

They ARE hard working and voters should scream for the Party's rabid radicals to back off and let Audra & Tony do their jobs without being threatened by a baseball bat every time they say something moderate.

You should have some of your young campaign workers build you a myspace website for free for the campaign. I bet they'd love to dazzle with their tech skillz at the same time as getting young people into politics.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for finding me on Myspace. Thank you for the great suggestions you are absolutely right!

I've been real busy this week with fundraising parties etc. I plan on working on my site on Myspace next week. I wanted a chance to have the two parties on Wed & Thur and use the pictures from them for my website.

You can also reach me at tprenta@aol.com, I check that more regularly.

I will get back to you early next week, promise!
