Endorsements! Get your fresh endorsements!

newWatson.jpg

Charles Watson ( Candidate Ventura County Board of Education VS ML Peterson ) has announced several new endorsements. Click on continue reading to see them.

I spoke with Charles Watson by e-mail and he is trying to find time to come out to Simi Valley and make a video. I also spoke with ML Peterson over the weekend and she has agreed to put together a video if everything goes right in the near future. ML, if you have a website, send me the url.

If any candidate has short videos they'd like to submit let me know.

I really don't know how powerful endorsements are. I am not going to endorse anyone on this blog for boards of education. I figure the more information about all the candidates that gets out the better for the voting public. If you know anyone that wants more information about their campaign to get out there, tell them to contact me. I put information up about a variety of candidates. If you don't see something from a candidate it is not because I am against them. It is beacause they don't send things in.

I'd be interested to know if the county board of education is endorsing each other though.

What is Tri-counties labor doing in a county board of education race?

I am not giving or recieving endorsements from the County Board of Education. It has too much capacity to damage working relationships within the Board.

I have sought endorsements and support from all sectors as a way to demontrate to those voters who are not familiar with me or my work that I have a good reputation and that those who know me trust me and beleieve I have the skills and character to be an outstanding Trustee.

Congratulations Mr. Watson.

Ley Boar,

Tri-County Labor Relations would have an interest in the County Board of Education. County schools have memorandum of understanding between other public agencies. The County schools are more of a collaborative in delivering wrap around services. Therefore they are working with a host of resources and labor groups.

For example youth that are incarcerated have public agencies including County Schools, Probation, Ventura County Behavioral Health and Department of Rehabilitation all working collaboratively to deliver mental health services, education and transition services for work training programs or continuing ed. to help to transition back into the community in order to circumvent recidivism.

Donna, thanks for educating me once again.

Cathy Carlson from TO here: Flash!!! Tim Stephens was forced to take down Linda Park's name on his endorsement list for CVUSD trustee. Which ones will be next to tell Stephens to remove their names as endorsers? What is zooming around town about this school board race?

Wednesday at at 6:30 there will be a education candidates' forum in Thousand Oaks at the Main Library. Will they have to call the police? Some of these DCCV people are the same ones who show up at the ACLU and Global Exchange meetings at the library and have wild, wild, meetings. I expect fireworks. Bring cameras and video and set your cell phones to call 911.

The moderator, Democratic Club President Tom Mullens, has been extremely rude in public to candidate and incumbent Mike Dunn. Let's see if he can control his bias and slander for one night.

Bring a digital camera and film a few short clips to e-mail to Dennert.

Hi Donna and Brian,

Labor Relation is different from the Tri-Counties Central Labor Council.

The first investigates and remedies unfair labor practices by employers AND unions. The latter, which endorsed both Chuck and me, is a consortium of local AFL-CIO unions. SEIU also attends. My name was brought forward by IBEW.

Posted by: ML at September 12, 2006 08:37 AM

Thanks ML for the clarification. You have a better grasp of unions than I. What is the IBEW?

Posted by: Donna Prenta at September 12, 2006 10:07 AM

Hi Donna.

IBEW is the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Thanks for asking.

Posted by: ML Peterson at September 12, 2006 04:31 PM

What is IBEW doing in a county board of educaton campaign?

Posted by: IBEW? YOU BEW! at September 12, 2006 07:28 PM

Dear BEW,

The Ventura County Board of Education offers Regional Occupation Programs. Local Unions offer
several apprenticeship programs. More than ever, we need high skilled, well trained electricians, and other skilled building trade workers.

I am proud to be associated with the skilled trades and the Unions that develop essential apprenticeship programs that provide very well paying jobs to Ventura County young adults and
the skilled work force essential for a healthy local economy.

We all benefit from the work of IBEW and other trade unions.

Cathy Carlson from TO here: Last night, Sept 13, at the TO library there was a forum for education candidates. There were 8 for the CVUSD. Tim Stephens had the nerve to disregard Linda Parks' instructions to remove her name from his endorsements. He DID take it off his website. What is wrong with this guy? He has plenty of money from the unions to reprint his brochures. This is an example of the man's lack of integrity. Why he did this is beyond me. Now several people have said they will report him to the Fair Political Practices Commission. He knew it was wrong, and he did it anyway. He told Linda it was "too late" because his brochures were printed. Any thoughts on this?

Posted by: Cathy Carlson at September 14, 2006 06:16 PM

Cathy, you really don't like this guy I take it. Did he vote for a decent health book or something?

Posted by: Wow! at September 15, 2006 11:07 PM

When did you make the final choice to run?
