School Board Candidates Part 3
Steve Gould is a former board member making a try again. Here is a video of him talking about why he is running and some of the issues. If you want more information you can go to his website.
After watching the video leave comments or questions for Steve Gould. If you would like to see previous school board candidate videos click here for Thurlow Partridge and here for Jeanne Davis. I also have an entry with Tim Camarillo. If you have questions for them, leave it under their blog posts.
If you know a candidate that would like to be featured on the Ventura County politics blog with the most traffic send me an e-mail. Having a video shows you are a serious candidate willing to face questions. It also drives up your google search results.

How did you vote on C4? If the money runs out will you back a c5? What about C 6-10?
Posted by: Boom! at September 15, 2006 11:06 PMWhat has Steve Gould learned since being out of office to be a better school board member?
Posted by: Mike S. at September 16, 2006 11:41 AMWho is your favorite board member past or present?
Posted by: Textbook 101 at September 16, 2006 12:13 PMWhat do you think of the magnet schools in Simi Valley?
Posted by: Santa Su Fan 118 at September 16, 2006 01:57 PMDo you favor Arnold's proposal to eliminate the county board of education?
Posted by: Ahnold at September 16, 2006 07:49 PMFor Mr. Gould:
Being that Rob Callens defeated you would there be hard feelings if you won this time?
Posted by: Team RamRod at September 17, 2006 12:26 AMTo answer questions.
Posted by: I want Gould at September 17, 2006 06:04 PMAre you going to profile Sundeen?
Posted by: Sundeen Fan at September 18, 2006 12:02 AMSteve Gould should be back on the board, He went
to school events as well as community events-
he knows what is going on with our schools.
I always saw him out where it counts- talking to
parents and teachers, and principals...
How can we get more counselors for our students?
Posted by: Jaspreet P at September 18, 2006 03:28 PMHow come the other local blog never links back here being that he is talking about the same candidates? I seem to remember Brian linking to his website.
The blogs should work together.
Posted by: Not Tim Keaney at September 18, 2006 05:57 PMIn response to recent questions:
Since I left the board, the bond projects have started at many schools. A new contract has been
negotiated for our dedicated employees and student
achievement is at an all time high.
I voted to support C-4. I would not support another bond, because taxpayers have enough expenses and burdens thru taxes.
When I was on the board, my contributions have
made a difference for our students. To be a better school board member, I have learned that I
have to improve communications with businesses, parents, and students and find out the needs of
each school site.
I don't play favorites- we have to work as a team. I have a collaborative, inclusive, management style that supports positive interaction.
County Boards of Education serve a purpose which we cannot eliminate.
Magnet schools provide students with a high quality of education. I support them.
I don't have hard feelings about anyone. I can work with people, win or lose.

I support having more counselors at all schools
to help students attain requirements needed to graduate and to be available to answer questions
Every student should meet with a counselor to
advise them of classes to take for college.
Thanks for the answers!
Posted by: &*****& at September 18, 2006 07:00 PMMr. Gould:
How would you pay for the increased number of counselors on campus. How much would they earn, where would you house them?
RR
Posted by: Roasted in Rio at September 20, 2006 10:26 AMIn response to RR (rio), counselors would get paid
out of the discretionary funds set aside for salaries. Their pay would be the same as other counselors. The counselors would have to share
offices.
Arnold just signed a bill to pay for more counselors. Now people like Roasted will get toasted for not supporting the governator! Take that!
Posted by: Mr. Know it some at September 20, 2006 10:21 PMMr Gould - Will you apply for those funds? To achieve your goals, how many counselors are needed at each campus, and what's the total cost?
Posted by: Roasted in Rio at September 21, 2006 06:19 AMAnyone know why Tim Keaney removed his blog entry about Jim Dantona and The County Board of Education?
Posted by: Lone Star Keaney Fan at September 23, 2006 10:37 AMIn response to question about counselors:
How many counselors needed depends on student
enrollment. We need to reduce the counselor/student ratio to 300 to 1 at the middle
schools and 500 to 1 at the high schools. the cost
depends on the number needed.
We need an educator on the Simi School Board-
one with experience, a track record of success,
he has opened closed schools and is a supporter
of C-4 bond. That's STEVE GOULD- he was on the
board in 2000 and made a difference!! He is the
only candidate ready to get to work the minute
board meetings convene! he knows the rules,
regulations, and school policies, and has attended
school events - Let's get him elected once again!!

What has changed since you left the board?
