Raymond Cruz and Dean Kunicki=Democrats?

In my mailbox today I found a slate mailer that says Raymond Cruz and Dean Kunicki are Democrats.

I know what is going on, but I will allow them to explain.

If they don't explain, remember they want you to think they are Democrats and they think it is important when choosing who you need on local school boards. If you don't normally vote for Democrats, keep in mind they want you to think they are Democrats.

If you get any more fun mail about the election, leave a message in the comments section.

Brian,
It sounds like even Ventura county is jumping on a Democratic leaning bandwagon! That ploy is so transparent. However, I'm finding more enlightened and aware minds in SV, now, more than ever. 'Mistakenly' putting the wrong party, thinking they'd get more votes, will hopefully backfire and the wiser moderates and conservatives in our county will vote for others. How about the entire SV school board slate of candidates? Just what is each's political leaning? Thanks for your help.

Raymond Cruz talked the talk to get the Republican endorsement but now he wants to be a Democrat?

Hi Lupelopez I am a registered Democrat and I wanted to let you know that Jeanne Davis and Steven Gould are also registered Democrats.

I consider myself a moderate Democrat. My mother is a lifelong Democrat and was a union activist. My Mother's Father and Mother were lifelong Democrats and were heavily influenced by FDR.

My Father was a lifelong Republican, like my Grand Father and Great Grand Father. They were Heavily influenced by Abraham Lincoln. My Great Great Grandfather Jose R. Rodriguez served in the First Native California Cavalry during the American Civil War as well as many other family members. They were very progressive at that time and were eager to serve the cause of the Union.

So in many ways I am influenced by my family history and involvement in politics. I tend to follow my gut instincts, heart and passion that comes from my family.

A Democratic Forum was held at the Simi Valley Public Library on Wednesday October 18th. Among those who attended were candidates Jill Martinez -24th Congressional District, Ferial Masry - 37th Assembly District, Lyn Shaw - 38th Assembly District, Jim Dantona - County Supervisor, 4th District, Steve Gould - Simi School Board, Jeanne Davis - Simi School Board and me Tim Camarillo - Simi School Board.

No endorsements were made by the Democratic Party for the Simi Valley School Board race because three Democratic candidates are running for the Board. That is an interesting statistic in itself.

Steve Gould who served as a School Board Member, I believe was the first Democrat to win a local nonpartisan office. So in many ways Steve is a trailblazer for others. We as Democrats have to thank Steve for that fact.

As for Republicans I know that Raymond Cruz and Eric Lundstrom were endorsed by the Ventura County Republican Party. I am including Simi Valley City Council Paul Miller (Mayor), Glen Becerra and Michelle Foster to illustrate the point that we live in a heavily Republican district.

I think what happened to Raymond Cruz and Dean Kunicki was they had put their names on Democratic slate mail, in order to reach out to Democratic Voters.

However I know I received phone calls from slate mailers to see if I would be interested to have my name placed on Republican, Independent, and a Hispanic Mailers. All of which I declined because I thought they would be misleading and the because of the costs of mailing.

In a local nonpartisan election, I know I am trying to reach all the voters I can and to represent all the families in the Simi Valley Unified School District.

This is a Historical election for the East County and Simi Valley and I hope you will take time to look at all the candidates and choose the best two Simi Valley School Board candidates that will serve you in the next four years.

Thank you again for your question and I hope you will consider voting for me this Tuesday.

Tim Camarillo

When even the conservatives like Raymond Cruz start running away from the stench of being a Republican it is bad news for elephants!

Hee Haw!

Looks like Cruz and Kunicki will tell any lie to get elected. I wonder if Cruz knows Haggard?

This is going on all over the country. In Oregon, a Republican state senate candidate set up a phone bank asking undecided voters if they were going to vote for him, "the Democrat," or his opponent: "the Republican."

I hate the fact that people pay to be on slates regardless of their beliefs.

Why won't Cruz just admit he is a conservative Republican? Is he ashamed of his views?

Why won't Republicans admit they are Republicans? Have Republicans done a few things wrong recently?
