Former Mayor Bill Davis is going to be working for the Simi Valley dump on winning over public support for an expansion.
I thought people told us there was no plans to expand the dump?
Thoughts?

I look forward to hearing all the great things the former mayor says and then voting no anyway.
How much does the landfill pay someone for this type of thing? Who votes on it?
Unless the Community demands a seat at the table, it'll be a Suprevisor's ONLY feast. Don't be surprised...we were all warned about this long ago.
Maybe we could make the Runkledyne project into a dump? That way everyone will be happy!
That was way back when Dantona was bringing up the dump landfill but the Mikels Fans were denying such an expansion was being planned.
Now Foy has promised no new landfills. Sounds liek a pledge that Bush made in 1988 was it? I bet Foy sticks to this one!
Foy never promised any such thing. He only said that he had the "personal assurance" from WM management that there would be no increase in truck traffic.
While we don't want the landfill to expand, where do we store our trash? No one else wants it. Maybe we should be looking at ways to reduce trash etc.
Good idea, Mac! Maybe Los Angeles County should do the same with theirs instead of wanting to ship it here via HWY 118.
Is the former mayor really getting paid to convince us to take trash from LA?
Maybe LA should be paying him!
Mr. Davis will need all the luck he can get. The public doesn't always understand the need for improvments until a leader shows them the way.
After his successful bid for the metrolink station, the civic center, and new golf courses he has the background we need to form partnerships for the future.
I was looking at Waste Management's website and noticed they have helped out The Simi Valley Education Foundation, The Simi Valley Police Foundation, and The Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce. Now it is time for the public to see what a good partner Waste Management has been.
O please WM only hired Bill Davis as a political pay back. When Bill was mayor he helped WM get a 20 year contract with the city. There was no RFP process nor was any other hauler allowed to be at the table during the negotiations.
Bill kept the city from closing WM’s hauling yard in Simi when he was mayor. They operate there with out a permit and with environmental violations. This is just the good old boys playing graft and greed one more time lets hope our new mayor puts as top to them once and for all.
What is RFP?
RFP is Request For Proposal! Usually the lowest bidder wins.
Yes what a great partner Waste Mangement has been. It is great Public Affairs to put money into Education, Safety, and Business. Let's win our hearts and minds before we put the trash out.
I also think it's great that we got the Metrolink Station, the Civic Center, and new Golf Courses. I am just curious to find out who received the contracts to conduct these capital campaigns and who received campaign contributions from these companies. Anyone know?
In the end Mayor Davis will end up being a highly paid lobbyist and after that a highly paid consultant.
Or he may even end up teaching at UCLA OR USC the finer points of Public Affairs, Urban Planning or Public Policy.
In return for the impact on our quality of life what will WMI give back to the community if we allow it to expand?
If memory serves me correctly, I think Mayor Greg Stratton had more to do with the metrolink, Civic Center and golf Courses than anyone else, including Former Councilmember Bill Davis. Yes, Bill was there and had a hand in it, but the driving force was Mayor Stratton and the entire council...
Does anyone really think Council members spend 35k to get elected to a job paying $500 a month? Not! They get elected for the perks.
Is the amount of money spent on people like Bill Davis to convinve us to allow more Los Angeles trash into Simi Valley part of the public record?
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! May the next year be a blessed one for all of us and as exciting as this past year, for the pundits!
