Mary Pallant (who briefly ran for the Democratic nomination for CA-24 for the right to take on Elton Gallegly) is bringing some speakers to Ventura County to talk about national politics. So far the agenda includes Writer Robert Scheer, Joe Wilson, and WMD's Inspector Scott Ritter.

What questions should audience members ask these three speakers? I am most interested to see what Joe Wilson and Scott Ritter talk about.

For those that want a real maverick who doesn't kiss @sses of the religious right or W. Hagel is your man!

I am glad that some Democrat has taken it upon herself to reach out and pull big names into Ventura County for us Democrats.

Way to go Mary!

I wonder why more Democrats are not saying thanks for Mary Pallant for bringing more great speakers to America.

Brian thank you for posting my series. I appreciate the publicity. As to the comments regarding "more democrats should be thanking me" I want to note that I am emphasizing this series in a non-political, non-partisan manner. Even though many of my speakers have been left leaning, I am working on inviting some conservative, right leaning speakers as well. I would like to create dialogue and debate which has been lacking in politics and the public for some time. I saw a need in Ventura County and I took the lead. I also try and keep cost to a minimum so that any who wishes to attend will be able to attend. If anyone would like to be added to my email list for updates and new events, please email me at: marypallant@sbcglobal.net

Mary,

Thanks for the heads up. I would like your feedback on other entries I have written too. What did you think of the entry with Thomas Jefferson listed right below this story?

A question for Joe Wilson would be: You weren't the only person in Washington who had doubts about the war in Iraq, but you were one of the few to express doubts about the war. Why were so few others who were in power or had been in power willing to speak of their doubts and fears about going to war when it counted?

Brian,
In response to asking me to reply on the Thomas Jefferson entry, I say this to Rep. Goode: Perhaps he should go back and revisit the constitution, specifically, Article VI paragraph three which states that "Senators and Representatives......shall be bound by Oath OR Affirmation, to support this constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." In fact, it might behoove federal candidates and legislatures to review the Constitution from time to time, especially since Bush seems to largely ignore it.
