( One of the three people in the picture is Bill Davis. I guess they are part of some formal shoveling team. Kind of strange to do yard work in a suit but when you are the mayor, or former mayor you can do what you want apparently. )
UPDATE: Apparently the picture is from the Simi Valley Hospital ground breaking.
On a different blog entry Simi Valley City Council woman Barbra Williamson revealed that former Bill Davis told her he is running again in 2008. That opens a bunch of questions for me.
1. Does that mean current Mayor Paul Miller isn't running again?
2. If he is running again, is he going to run against him?
3. Why did he retire from the job if he still wants it?
4. What accomplishments is Bill Davis most proud of? I think the Amtrak station is pretty sweet.
5. How hard will it be for people leaving comments to bring up any issue besides Waste Management?
6. How many developers, lobbyists, consultants, and corporate spokespeople are either running for local office or hold it?

I think Mayor Davis could run on a TR type campaign. When he left office Simi Valley was one of the safest cities around.
Now what are we 17th?
Of course, Paul Miller could fire back that it all started way back when Davis was mayor. But then again who was police chief then?
Add to that Paul Miller would have to admit there is a problem to blame it on someone else.
Isn't he a consultant for Waste Management? He could run on a platform to expand the landfill to meet the needs of the growing Los Angeles County.
Bill Davis...best friend to Dean Kunicki.
Davis appointed Kunicki to planning commission. Davis condones Kunicki's shady paid consulting for development deals while he was on the planning commission, and Davis was the Mayor. Kunicki was investigated for violations of FPPC and barely skates through for being in the "Gray" area of FPPC ethics and subsequently resigns from the planning commission.
Just imagine the influence Kunicki will have over Davis for the development projects he is currently being paid to consult for. Look out Knolls!
Davis condones Kunicki's shady campaign financing from developers funneled through the VCRCC as "membership communications". Will Davis switch to Republican so Kunicki's developer friends and Saperstein can finance his campaign through the VCRCC.
What has Davis done for the community since he stepped down as the Mayor? What kind of volunteering or fundraising efforts for non-profits has he been involved in?
Davis is old school, let's not go backwards.
It's just a hunch: much of what will be in the air in city, county and state government leading up to and in the next election will have the distinct smell of trash and diesel connected with it.
I would vote for Miller over Davis any day of the week!
I think Davis is joking. Why would he run again?
I never trusted putting retreads on my car and I do not think it is generally a smart idea to put them in the mayor's office either.
Why not someone a little different from the usual suspects? How about an independent minded woman who understands how the city runs? How about someone not afraid to communicate with the people directly? How about Barbra Williamson?
Brian,
I think you best look at the "Paul Miller" link you have..I think there is a problem..
Bill Davis would lose in a landslide. His record is nothing any politician would normally want to run on and now his Waste contract is the nail in the coffin.
Bill you served your time. Enjoy taking vacations.
"I like to watch."
Hopefully someone will run for Mayor. It is sad we are trying to export Democracy to the Middle East but yet we don't have choices here.
I will be thrilled to see Davis run. At least then i will have a choice.
We need to revitalize our Democracy.
And before you say I should run, I can't this time.
Davis is not a choice, but an echo.
