Does Elton Gallegly get permission from the people he quotes?

Since Elton Gallegly is so nonpartisan he must frequently endorse Democrats for positions around the county too, correct? It would seem bad if his nonpartisan leanings only go in one direction.

Brian, if you do start posting the flyers, be sure to post the entire contents so that your readers can know which organization is fronting the mailer and which organization is mailing it. Very often, the same organization will have many different names. Usually, the address is just a drop box - often out of the county.

This one for instance - was it put out by Elton's group or some other organization?

I can't tell for sure about the Dean Kunicki flyer. Looks like it was mailed out by DMH - which is Darin M. Henry's organization - he works for Audra. I can't read the return address though.

Another thing to look at is similarity between flyers - The Conejo Valley School District Flyers for Dunn, Anderson and Lennox were virtually identical to the Pleasant Valley School District flyers and to some of the flyers for Cheryl Heitmann with the Ventura Community Community College District. Sames font, same colors, etc. Almost all were mailed by DMH. If memory serves me correctly, Louis Masry and Dean K. had some similar looking flyers.

Another interesting factoid is who is behind the organization that is putting out the flyer. But I'll save that for the next time.

I don't know if there will be a "thumping", particularily if Republicans in office start acting like Republicans. We need some leadership - quick. Right now, Republicans are too busy throwing partisan spitballs or hiding in their shells.

This campaign mailer is a typical example of Elton's campaign strategy. As his campaign manager would brag, "When the primary's over, Elton throws the elephant out the window."

I do find it odd that Democrats want to run AGAINST Elton's stance against illegal immigration and get elected locally. They could try to paint him as an extremist but I don't see a big move for amnesty locally.

This mailer looks like something out of a junior high school president election. "I like baby chicks because they are fuzzy". It is amazing how far the guy has to go to get some love.

It is my personal belief that these companies do not like Mexicans. I believe that because they are the ones financing Elton. Elton is dividing families by sending childrens' Mothers back to Mexico. We have children in Oxnard that want their Mother's back. It is my opinion that Elton and these donors won't let them have their Mothers' back. I think that is wrong and evil.

I believe that our legislators ignored the problem for decades because it was "too hard." Then the problem grew and grew until it became unmanageable, and no answer easy, fair or humane was possible. This lack of action has bred hatred and frustration.
Solution: elect legislators with the pants to take on the difficult problems rather than those that play it safe and only work on their own re-elections.

Leslie, I assume you are refering to the illegal immigration issue. It certainly isn't a new problem and it is problem that has been ignored by both parties for several years. Elton has been consistent in waving a red flag at it. Unforunately, that isn't good enough to effect significant improvement for the current dilemna.

I'd like to see a 5 or 10 year stay of automatic citizenship/anchor babies. I'd also like to see a worker's program for the breadwinner but disincentives for bringing up the entire family. Our healthcare system and education system has been severely impacted and we aren't getting the federal dollars needed to provide federally mandated services.

Those children are Americans. In America you don't take things away from Americans.

Why do Republican presidents keep favoring amnesty for law breakers? First it was Ronald Reagan in 1986 signing a massive amnesty bill and now George W. Bush. Why has been by nothing done by either party?

The fact is that employers benefit greatly from this huge pool of underpaid workers from Latin America, Asia and elsewhere. This is the real reason that nothing has been done as the agriculture and food processing, construction and mining, manufacturing and landscaping, hospitality and food service, domestic service and health care do not want to cut off the cheap labor for which they provide the absolute minimum in pay and no benefits. Their profitability depends on it.

Add to this the fact that there are real shortages in some of these industries of young skilled workers to replace aging baby boomers who can no longer continue to do the demanding jobs.

These industries are a large factor in the U.S. economy and social fabric and contribute a great deal of money to political action committees to make sure that no real interruption to the flow of this labor would ever take place.

Your kids have a Mother. Those children don't. That sounds rather taxing doesn't it.

No one doubts the congressman's committment in rounding up and detaining all 12 million of these less-than-human illegals. We need to make it more difficult for them to work for low wage jobs and ensure that lawbreakers and their American-born children wishing and "yearning to breathe free" remain ignorant and disease ridden until hunger, death or common sense drives them back across the border from where they came. Well I don't know where all the Republicans are like Voter, Ron, members of the Republican Central Committee, etc. If it was a Dantona thread they would be all over it.

Elton has been very consistent with identifying that there is a problem with illegal immigration. He has never been racist about it (like the previous post would indicate). He has an expectation that if the established rule of law is followed (which it isn't), there would be at least a partial mitigation of the problem.

I think people should not try to make the illegal alien situation a racist, divisive point of party politics. It is a problem for everyone and we need to do something about it. Providing free healthcare is not the answer. Building a fence is not the answer either. Ignoring the problem is definetely not the answer.

Illegal immigration has negatively impacted and strained the to breaking point our healtchare systems, schools, prisons, housing and highways. There are no simple answers here, but it is also not helpful to try and make this a partisan issue or to claim that anyone who opposes amnesty is therefore a racist. This is an important issue that will take courage to resolve. We know that building a fence and kicking out families is not the right solution. We also know that having open borders and allowing wave after wave of poor, uneducated people into our country to overwhelm our social programs is also not the right solution. I see lots of people around here taking potshots at others but not willing to ofter solutions of their own. I'm ready for a serious discussion on this issue but it seems like this thread is turning into more of the same political double-talk that is always so disappointing.

DOJ - I've been a registered Republican all my life and am proud of the tenants of my party. I am not alone but am aware that Republicans tend to not speak up - even when trampled. KUNICKI is a DEVELOPER CONSULTANT ASKED TO RESIGN, FROM THE SV PLANNING COMMISSION FOR TAKING MONEY FROM DEVELOPERS HE WAS CONSULTING FOR AND RECOMMENDING THEIR PROJECTS FOR APPROVAL TO THE SVCC! He subsequently "resigns for personal reasons" to save face.

1) Claims he is being re-elected, he was never elected, he ran for office three times and lost three times. He was appointed by four people that do not live in the district he represented after Rob Collins was elected to the SVSB and vacated his term.

2) Claims he has the UNANIMOUS support of Ventura County EDUCATORS! The four educators he list live outside of District IV. Prenta was endorsed by the the Simi Valley & Moorpark Classified Employees Assoc., The SV & MP Educators Assoc. The ENITRE Moorpark School Board, The MAJORITY of the SV School Board. The majority of the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, (Kunicki wasn't endorsed by any County Supervisor. SVCC Glen Becerra.

3) CLaims to be an EDUCATOR when he is a consultant for land developers, I have never seen evidence of Kunicki helping any students.

4) Claims to be invloved with the Education Foundation and takes credit for all the money the have been raising currently. Kunicki has not been invloved in the Ed. Foundation for a decade and at the time they did very little fundraising.

Audra Strickland tried to persuade Donna Prenta to pull out of the County School Board race after Prenta had already filed and had powerful endorsements and County Wide support. Audra asked Prenta to consider running for local School Board, and then she would endorse her, so that the Strickland's lap dog could run unoppsed. The consultant for the STrickland's Brian Parks, took money from the Prenta campaign for a slate mailer "Non Partisan Candidate Evaluation Council" and then put Kunicki on it, holding onto Prenta's campaign money and deceiving her. Yep, Brian Parks, Strickland campaign consultant full of dirty tricks, apparently he is good at bait and switch .

Kunicki got most of his campaign contributions in large lump sums from developers and special interest individuals from outside of Ventura County and even the state. He funneled developers major campaign contributions through the VCRCC, to distract from who his real supporters were. VCRCC took money from Kunicki's buddies and paid to do a campaign on his behalf in the guise of "Membership Communications." That is deceitful, the VCRCC was used as Kunicki's Candidate Controlled Committee to funnel his dirty money from Strickland and his major donors the Indian Casino's, Charter School's etc.

Tony Strickland, was paid $20,000 to lobby for Vista Real Charter School, Tony makes a $7000 contribution to Kunicki's campain, Kuniicki loses to Rob Collins, VCSB appoints Kunicki to fill Collions seat, Kunicki becomes the swing vote to approve the Vista Real Charter SChool.

Shame on them. Students of Vista REal receive 2-3 hours of instruction for independent study from teachers with an average of 1.5 years of teaching instruction has an API of 413, no student support services or extra curriculars and receives full ADA funding $6000 a year per student's who receive less than 100 hours of instruction in a classroom annually that's $60 dollars an hour for one student. A student in a regular school receives more than 120 hours of classroom instruction in the first month of school and this does not inclde all the extra-curricular activities in after school programs. Let's see an avg. classroom is 25 students to one teacher let's do the math an average student will receive 900 hours of classroom instruction a year with an ADA of $6000 divided by 900 hours = $6.67 an hour per student is received for ADA per student in public school. A teacher teaching 25 students X 6.67 an hour= 166.75 a Vista Real Teacher receives for 25 students an hour $1500 and hour. Things that make you go, HUH! No wonder the Charter Schools use the ADA money taken from our taxes to pay for the Strickland's campaign and pay them to lobby to approve their school's.

I understand it is actunally more complicated than that and many other variables, but it is a mind boggling example.

Dona't get me wrong I am not opposed to GOOD Charter school's if they are needing and a school district has dropped the ball. Charter SChool's should not be making a profit on ADA money, they should put the excess into programs for their students.

I have been out of town and then working on a couple of other projects in the last couple of days, so I have not been reading Dennert's Blog. Today is the first day since a week ago.

I have NEVER seen Mr. Kunicke's flyer until this posting. I NEVER gave my approval
to have my name printed or given out as an endorser. In fact, I wrote Dean
that I could not and would not do so. I have the e-mail exchange with Mr. Kunicki's
and Mr. Bates' in which they are quite upset that I would not do so.

I wish someone had sent this to me during the election because I would have
made it know publicly. I supported Mr. Kunicki generically as a member of a Board, but
I did not support him as a candidate running for re-election. I made that VERY
clear during the campaign.

I am more than a little disappointed in the misleading flyer.

ML, the local Republicans love to do this because they know you won't do anything but say you are a little disappointed that they misrepresented your views to tens of thousands of people.

Elton Gallegly says he is bipartisan and works with everyone. He then turns around, endorses ONLY Republicans and uses any quotes that you say to be nice to him in his favor.

When are you going to learn the Ventura County Republican Party has been using you.

Will you issue a press release? Maybe write a letter to the Star? Promise NOT to endorse any of your fellow board members that abused your trust?

Fight Back: Fool me once . . . this has been a real slap in the face. There are many
reasons for the make up of our current Board. I am on THIS Board, and I have an obligation to work with them to make our schools better. I am committed to FIGHT FOR some sliver of common ground, though I wonder how stable that may be, and work to get community backing for improved access to highest quality schools our county can offer.

While this news may be fuel for many Dennert bloggers' fodder, it is not really newsworthy. At this time, just background noise. I will only endorse candidates
within Area 1.

Right now, I am more concerned about getting more funding for schools, closing the achievement gap, and providing rich learning experiences for all our children. PLEASE, work with me and other very committed community members on these issues. It's time to carry on.

On whether you can make claims about what I say or do: That depends on the kind of person you are . . . it should not depend on whether I demand or not demand anything
from Mr. Kunicki.

There's a lot of game playing and playing others for personal gain in politics. But remember what happens to Rosencratz and Guildenstern. There really aren't that many Claudiuses. I have to focus on the work and move on.

There have been whisper campaigns and innuendos about what I have said and done. Most people are good and reasonable and understand. Given enough time, they learn the truth. Enough of it, anyway, I believe. I don't mean for this to sound platitudinous or pollyannish. . . .

The flyer is disappointing and really annoyed me, but in the bigger scheme of things, it is rather trivial.

I know for a FACT that ML Peterson did not endorse Kunicki or Bates. The fact that Kunicki chose to lie in his mailers reflects on what kind of man he is...part of the Strickland/VCRCC culture of corruption.

She didn't get played for a fool; she conducted herself with honor and integrity. Unlike Kunicki, ML is only interested in serving the community, regardless of political affiliation. She is PASSIONATE about education. She has taken flack from some Democrats for her bipartisan approach and willingness to reach across the isle.

If she hasn't demanded an apology, it's because she is more concerned with the issues and our kids, than politics.

Cathy Carlson from TO here: Brian, you asked for campaign literature you could post that was "classic". I take that to mean off-the-wall or shady or containing lies.

So, would you like to see the campaign flyers that CVUSD incumbent/candiate Tim Stephens mailed out last fall? He claimed that County Supervisor Linda Parks endorsed him, AFTER she told him to removed her name from his website. A chain of emails shows that he finally took her name off of his website, after many complaints, but he said it was "too late" to pull his mailers. No it wasn't. He unethically handed out those false mailers at the TO Library candidates forum, sponsored by the Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley. He knew he didn't have Linda's endorsement. Then a week later his flyers came through the mail with the same false claim.

Is this something you would like to see? Are you interested in knowing why Linda told him to pull her name? What was wrong with Stephens' professional and personal behavior that alientated Linda? Would the DA like to investigate this fraud? We think so. Evidence has been gathered, waiting for the a timely delivery. Brian, would you like to help?
