Democrats should team up with Whole Foods for "Food for Thought" or something like that. Food tasting and whatever for $15.00 or a price that makes sense. Their suppliers could benefit greatly from this event. Democrats are health conscious.
To avoid conflict of interest all the political parties could have a day for them.
Yeah, Brian...feel free to nab a picture from the myspace page.
I'm interesting in learning more about this Whole Foods thing... ... ... ...thanks for the tip Mainstream Voters!
Run with it babe.
How does someone become the Young Democrats friend on myspace.com?
Do you out flyers up about it at local colleges?
Do you have a myspace page?
You just click on "Add to friends" and Reggie will send you a thanks for the add comment!
We are trying to flyer at local colleges...but we are just getting off our feet in terms of school outreach.
If someone donated:
A. $100
B. $500
C. $1000
to your club what would you do with the funding?
Thank you to everyone who turned out for last nite's Coffee Kick-Off! It was great to meet all of you and see friends too ;-) I think this is going to be a really cool way for coffee drinking young dems to enjoy a frothy mix of friendship, fun, and politics! It is also a great chance to get info on upcoming YPD activities and all the exciting political stuff that will be going on in the lead up to the 2008 Prez election!
I look forward to meeting all of you out in the community as we get out there to spread the word about YPD, Coffeecrats, and all our other activities. Most of all, I hope Coffeecrats will be a place to build friendships, as well as our membership base. Please contact me at www.myspace.com/jenzide for any questions or info on Coffeecrats or to request a copy of our newsletter. Please join us for our next meeting Mon. June 18th at Palermo Coffee, downtown Ventura, from 6 - 7 p.m.
Wishing you a very caffeinated day, Jennifer Zide, Host, YPD Coffeecrats Coffee Group

Heather did you call Whole Foods?
The good news is Caffeine enhances the anticancer effect of tea polyphenols.
The bad news:
Caffeine overstimulates the adrenal glands. When introduced with other stressors and generally poor diet, the adrenals can enter into a state of emergancy. They become depleted of important vitamins such as B-complex and vitamin C.
A significant cause of general fatigue is caffeine withdrawal. Since Millions of Americans have a caffeine addiction, caffeine- related fatigue is a common problem. When a person accustomed to large quantities of caffeine suddenly limits his or her intake, the result will be fatigue, probably accompanied by a headache. Eliminating dependence upon coffee and other caffeinated products is crucial to maintaining health and avoiding debilitating bouts with fatigue.
Mainstream voter, exactly why I get smoothies, although they are filled with sugar.
Young Democrat...use your real name!
In answer to your question:
$100, $500, $1000 in donations: I promise you that the first and foremost of importance when we get a donation like that is to get another person or organization to match it. We have so-far been successful, although most of our donations have come in $20 increments.
$100, $500, and even $1000 does not do much; however, generally what our executive board would decide to do is split it into three parts. Part one would be added into whatever budget fund we have for outreach to the community and new young members. This would be used to have some sort of an outreach drive, specifically geared towards young and student members. The second part would no doubt go into a social justice aspect of our budget fund, in which we would use it to purchase SWAG from a good cause (such as when we purchased Save Darfur wristbands) or to be used in facilitating a club project such as a beach clean up, a canned food drive, etc. The other third would go into reserve for future expenses of the club, for instance rent for our meeting room, dues for the organizations we are chartered with, cost of website or email server, etc.
The most important thing to note here, though, is that if someone is going to donate an amount of $100 or more, we want to make sure that the funds are going to go to what they expect it to go to. If someone wants to donate to help with voter registration efforts, we are going to make sure that a majority of that money goes to helping fund a voter registration drive or supplies for voter registration tabling.
If you have any other questions, please contact me or blog again!
Heather is doing a great job in an area that can only serve to help Ventura County. You have the spirit, kid. Don't lose it.
PS: How about a fund raiser called "beach blanket bingo"? Perhaps it is outdated. Hang 10!
Why don't you get a celebrity to show up to one of these things? Believe it or not many intelligent people in show business don't like Republicans.
Maybe you should get DOE to help out beyond adding ideas. What do you think DOE?
You in?
I have my plate full getting Barbara Streisand to play a Democratic fund raiser at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. It's going to be like butter. Expensive butter.
I might be able to help in September.
