Now you too can help Brett Wagner using the new Pain Ray.
Post your top scores.
Brett Wagner ( Democratic Candidate CA-24) resigned from various positions within the Democratic Party he held to concentrate on fund raising for his upcoming primary election.
Although I haven't seen it yet I believe the June fund raising period that just ended isn't going to report favorable numbers for local Democrats.
Both Jill Martinez ( 2006 nominee CA-24) and Brett Wagner were in debt by tens of thousands of dollars last reporting period whereas Elton Gallegly still had about $800,000 cash on hand.
Before I believe any Democrat is serious about running I want to know how they plan to raise at least as much as Elton Gallegly currently has on hand. Otherwise, even if they raise money at the same pace as Elton they will still get buried under a pile of his mail pieces.
Anyways, to read Brett Wagner's letter explaining how he is going to devote more energy to fund raising click on continue reading.
Dear Friend,
As you probably know, just about the biggest
responsibility of any political candidate is
fundraising.
And as I'm sure you know, there are only so
many hours
in a day.
Now that we're less than 11 months from our
next
scheduled primary election (with an even shorter
preparation time, should our current congressman
decide to
step down early, as many suspect he will) -- the
time has
now come for me to begin narrowing down the
priorities in
my life and concentrate on raising all the
necessary funds
for us to build a viable congressional campaign.
That's one reason why I'm writing this letter
resigning
from my positions in various Democratic Party
organizations.
Another reason is it would not be fair to my
colleagues
to continue in my various positions in the
Democratic
Party in name only.
Therefore, effective immediately, I am
resigning my
position on the Santa Barbara County Democratic
Central
Committee, where I have proudly served since
2001. I am
also resigning my positions as president of the
Stonewall
Democrats of Greater Santa Barbara and co-chair
of
Progressive Democrats of Santa Barbara. I wish
each of
these fine organizations all the best in their
future
pursuits.
So...
With that now done,
Let's start shifting our campaign
fundraising into

What does Brett Wagner do for a living? Can he afford to pay for a large part of his own campaign to get it kick started?
Actually, if my reading of the FEC site data is corret, Brett has raised a wopping total of $656 and is in debt $54,211...
When was that last updated?
Is the big reason Brett Wagner hasn't raised more money really because he hasn't spent enough time at it?
Brett Wagner needs to start a travel agency and put advertising on his political site. It's tax deductible and he could call the airline Faith Based Airlines. He needs to hurry before the VCRCC do it....
You know I am still not on Wagner's email list, despite numerous attempts to get my personal email and our club's email... ... ...
This thread is a waste of time. Nobody really thinks Brett Wagner will win.

So what's the cost of a House campaign in these parts? Anyone have an idea?
Hey Brian my quarter got stuck get the key.
4080
GS,
If you are in this district (the 24th Congressional) and you are a Republican, you do not have to spend all that much money to win.
Gallegly doesn't spend that much from his war chest every year.
For a Democrat, you need to spend a lot of money. I wouldn't run if I didn't have at least 1-1.5 million to spend aggressively in the general.
Heather, did you play asteroids to warm up for banning the pain ray?
Why do you think Republicans need to spend so much less? Is it the power of being an incumbent ( gone w/ Gallegly when he leaves), the fact that the district has a stronger Republican organization, or voter reg numbers?
Do you think any of these will change soon?
13670 - I tried to match the DOW.
I think that the reason why a Republican would need to spend LESS would be because this district has a much stronger Republican base, has a much more conservative collective-ideology, and that because of that the Republicans have to spend less on ongoing-voter reg, the ongoing message, getting out into the public's view, etc.
