I didn't get a chance to read it before heading out but what are your thoughts on the lead articles?

Also, any news about Countrywide jobs in Simi Valley?

Camarillo Acorn reports Kathy Long will announce her intent to run on Sept. 13. Last election was my last vote for her. Let's hope we get some new blood. Although a Dem. she has laid with the vipers of PVSD and the County Board of Ed.

It will be real interesting to see if anyone runs against her this time. I suspect the Dems aren't real happy with her but that it her registration. And supposedly she has assurances the Republicans won't run anyone.

Here is a story from this morning's Moorpark Acorn on Jim Dantona declaring for the State Senate race.

Here is the story in the Simi Valley edition.

Very good story today on Jim Dantona.

Countrywide has announced layoffs that have already begun with the big ax to fall by years-end. They are moving to Texas and outsourcing to India. This will leave a small crew at Tapo... no word on Madero.

I thought the story of Miss Ventura County being married when she won the pageant and the pageant's reaction was pretty interesting. Had all the trappings of a good scandal.

Kathy Long was nowhere to be found last year, when Dem candidates needed her support. Suddenly, shortly before and after her own candidacy announcement, she makes a $100 donation to the Camarillo Dem Club (public record and in the club newsletter) and volunteers to speak at the Sept meeting. Fair-weathered friend.

Just curious, has anyone ever seen her at a progressive event? Did she take a stance on LNG? Why in the world would she "lie" with PVSD & County Board of Ed - 2 of the most undemocratic boards in our county? If the Reps won't run anyone, maybe now's the time to get someone in there who will actually move the county forward. Nominations?

Maybe see if Peter Foy knows a reformer with results from your area.

I believe her chief of staff, Joyce Taylor, is related one of the people that is in bed with the PVSD unification people - the one who designed the flyers that went out. The unification effort is primarily a Republican effort and the district she represents is primarily Republican so maybe her hands were tied. Of course, the parents of kids in the PVSD are wondering why she has been so quiet during all the turmoil of school closings, etc.

Brian, I met R.J. Lebeck on Monday and we talked about how the phenomenon of blogs is posters that are too chicken to use their real names...they hide behind fake identities and computer screens and would NEVER say what they are saying in person.

Kathy Long was at the Democrat's Labor Day Picnic I believe. She's at the Camarillo Dem Club meeting at the UFCW Hall off Camarillo Springs Road in Camarillo Thursday at 7 pm.

One reason people don't use their real names is to protect their jobs when their boss doesn't allow them to post about their jobs ( if they work for a candidate, the government, or a major corporation). Another reason is to protect themselves from random threats and intimidation by the real strange people that exist in both parties.

Heather Schmidt, a likely name. I remember you as Mary Taylor. Your made up name of Heather Schmidt does not fool me. How dare you accuse others of using made up names, Mary.

Don't bet that people with pseudo names will not say in public what they say on blog. As Fake Name said, their are many reasons for using a pseudo name other than presenting a repressed alter ego.

I'm not so sure why everyone on this blog turns everything into a personal attack.

I have read, on many occassions, that the use of fake names and the whole concept of blogging (even under a real name) is the phenomenon of blogging in that people say things they would never say in person.

Specifically, discussing it with RJ, we were discussing the fact that regularly he and I fight on this blog and then in person at the Labor Day picnic we were very sweet to each other. And we used our real names.

I don't see many people posting about their jobs. Unless they work for Jim Dantona. Plus, don't you think those jobs have that rule for a reason? Similarly, I use my real name all the time and never get threatened or intimidated and if I do, I don't see it because Brian is good about monitoring the posts.

My opinion is that people should post using their true identities because it gives more legitimacy to their words. If you think I believe for a second that 324 comments under the Jim Dantona article are ALL different people, you are mistaken. Those comments are not true, then. I'm sure that a number of those are posts under different names, from a handful of people (many of whom probably DO work on the various campaigns). I'm not sure I want to vote for a candidate who has to have campaign workers sit at home and make fake posts on a blog about how great they are.

Come on Heather, learn to chill. You claim to be a Dem, but you continually bash Dantona. Are you supporting Strickland? Why are you so concerned about the identity of bloggers? Ahh, shucks, come on Heather. Get a grip.
